Very impportant video. I order from Panera. Sometimes I go to pick it up and sometimes I get doordash. The prices for the food sre higher when delivered and there is a delivery fee and a "convenience fee." After taxes and tip one meal costs me an average of $28. Yes, it's a luxury. Hoiwever I am a senior citizen and I can see a day coming when it won't be safe for me to drive. Delivery would then be a real "convenience." Also, I didn't realize that dashers are only paid a few dollars and that the tips are vital. People need to know this. Thank you for addressing this topic.

@@dianek1683 let's break this down. Hopefully driver is 5 minutes or less from restaurant while accepting order, what if driver has to wait 10 minutes for order at restaurant, then 5 minute drive to drop off order. That's 20 minutes. Well, first the app glitched and I couldn't see the process of any of it. No notifications or where the driver was on the map. Nothing. Big FAIL. Second, I bought one brisket meal (a $13-15 meal) from Hog Wilds. It was almost $40!!! (including the tip) Never ordered dd again. Thanks for the video Sara. Sorry about your car breaking down.

First driver picked up the order and was heading to my friends apartment. I was watching on the app. They got halfway there then took off going a different direction then disappeared! Then I got the message that my order was being remade. Second driver picked up the order and they disappeared too! Then I got a message saying my order was being made for the THIRD time! Third driver finally delivered the order…to the wrong apartment! I called him and he did go back and take it to the right apartment. With drivers like these, no wonder people don’t tip! 😂 I’m sure most deliveries go just fine though.

That’s why I don’t order through these apps unless we had no transportation to get food ourselves like when we were in Nashville for my husband’s mom’s funeral. Because of being on a budget, I don’t have the extra funds to pay double on eating out. And when we do splurge, we like to actually dine in! I totally get the high cost to the customer but when you have working vehicles and want the convenience of having someone else pick up and deliver your food or groceries, you should tip, otherwise go get the stuff yourself! It be great if uber and all the other companies paid the drivers decently but it is what it is and drivers depend on tips and won’t take the no tip offers!

Hard to believe you didn’t know this for the amount of time you have been doing this. A Big Mac meal at the McDonald’s a half mile from my house is $5 more with 0 delivery fee and 0 tip added. I do not believe the fees increase with larger orders but not sure, taxes would. I used to order DD quite often but with the fees and the quality of dashers no more. A dasher waiting on an order at McDonald’s a couple days ago, in pajamas looking like he just crawled out from under a rock, talking on the phone in I don’t know what language and wearing sandals with no socks. I could not eat anything this person brought me even in a sealed bag, it was in his car and touched by him. Sorry if I offended anyone.

ok here it is I just let my Wife listen to your short Vlog here she made a point , we are in Canada but the deal is about the same here, She tells me here she and her co workers have found away to make the cost more effective the more you order the more affordable Delivery gets. there rule Never order just for one place one massive order the over all price is better then only pay one delivery change to order Lunch for 12 and the driver makes out better and the tip is split between all who order .... it most effective here when she order uber and such for the meal whole family Including Desert and Drink then is she just order a single drink and donut or sandwich . so the tip is when Ordering if your in like an apartment and have load of friends who live in the building togeather all order togeather divide it up if the place you order From dont do that naturally . also she points out makes a difference on door dash where you order From McDonalds has a far greater mark up then wendys so it is possible Dunkin being a premium name for coffee like starbuck might have a larger mark up then other local stores in the area .

How crazy IS IT to Tip before the actual Service?
@shopninja67325 ай бұрын
The problem is, if you don't tip up front, the driver sees such a low dollar amount that they won't accept the order. No one wants to work for $2 an order and people don't generally tip after the delivery is made. I'm pretty sure that with both DD and UE you can change the tip within an hour of the delivery. So, it's better to tip up front and then if the service was really bad, adjust the tip within the hour window.
