I learned of Sam Andrews via Hank’s videos ten years ago when looking for a shoulder rig for my Walther PPS. I was pleasantly surprised to hear his “locked and loaded” voice pick up the phone on the second ring and discuss what I was looking for. It took some months to get because Sam was preparing to move to his current location in St. Augustine, FL which then got hit and flooded by a hurricane shortly after he moved. When I finally did call for a status update a few months into the wait Sam told me that he had done my order in black rather than cordovan by mistake and was in the process of re-doing it. That worked out great for someone else on a Walter forum who was looking to buy one who got it without any wait. When mine finally arrived I was impressed with the workmanship but discovered the mag holders had been made for 6-round spares not the 8-round I had specified. I call Sam and he said, no problem… and a week or so later I received a new mag holder with him telling me to keep the original. The rig was great to use. The shoulder straps are soft and wide and the strap across the back eliminates the need for belt tie downs making it easy and quick to put on and take off like a jacket or vest. The combination of the Monarch and PPS was perfect with the gun tucking out of sight under the left arm. Functionality was great because I have longer than average arms and am left-eye dominant so reaching across to draw and raise it up into Chapman stance (how I learned in the 80s). My only regret was procrastinating for almost a year before deciding to get it. 😊

Thanks for all the help and videos. Sam is a master at leather. My 1st western holster I made in the Army while stationed in Korea in 1988-89 was the 1st time I ever worked with leather. I still the holster hanging on my wall. The book at the hobby shop was from Tandy with the holster design. I still get my leather from Tandy today. Anyway, get work guys. 😀

I grew up in those Army base hobby shops back in the 60's. I learned a lot. Did a few leather projects. Mostly did the photography shop developing my own black and whites. Also dabbled in jewelry making with wax impressions and silver. Miss those hobby shops.

I cannot find a shoulder holster I like. If Sam could make one, I'd buy it. I want a shoulder holster that has a 45-degree down angle, no thumb break, and two opposing mag holsters with no flap covers, setting horizontal. Now, here's the kicker. I want to carry three different pistols in it. And in summer, I want to wear it over a tee shirt and under a regular, tucked in shirt. It looks like having to buy three different holsters, and I don't want to spend maybe $1,000+ on just holsters.

Watch out with leather. Seen videos where it gets worn and works its way into the trigger guard... and the person ended up with a round through their ass cheek when they went to sit in their car. Leather is more comfortable than kydex but be careful.

That's odd, I'm retired law enforcement and I've never seen or heard of that happening. Must have been a real poor quality leather rig to do that. I've got a couple of 25 to 30 year-old leather rigs that are still servicable. But, then I've only bought good leather rigs.

That's hyperbolic if not ridiculous. It may not be appropriate for your application, but that doesn't hold true for everyone. Imagine a Colt SAA holstered in kydex... I'm pretty sure you can be legally shot in 12 states for that. 🤮🤣

That's stupid beyond belief. I've worn a lot of rigs over 30 years of law enforcement and I prefer leather by far. It's more comfortable and this talk about it drawing moisture is BS unless you are working on the water. The trick is you don't store the gun in the holster and it's best to have more than one holster so you can switch out every other day if moisture is a problem. Just like a good pair of leather shoes, you have to switch them out and let the leather breathe. It makes the shoes last longer and it does wonders for your feet. Kydex is fine, If you find it comfortable, but it's ugly and noisy depending on the type. As a civilian style matters even more. I don't want to look like some tacticool moron if my shirt pulls up and reveals my gun or if my jacket is open. Good looking leather looks more respectable and less threatening to the sheeple. IMHO
