What I find really interesting is: "Straight A's" is written in a 5/4 timing which is odd and more classically based, probably why it was originally chosen. 5/4 is usually used to create unsettling or tense situations as the bars don't resolve - up until the "rewind induce amnesia" part. It makes "Amity" feel like she's "trying to catch her breath" which suits her.. Where Ordinary uses a very ordinary 4/4 timing but it's Stacatto, the tempo is fast and punchy which is exactly how Luz speaks and acts most of the time. It also has a nice dissonant key for the first half but when it hits the "rewind enduce amnesia" we get a key change to a major key as she becomes more certain of herself. So all around lots of thought put into this!

Yeah, you can hear the sharp and quick notes in ordinary. The singing is rapid breathed and the staccato really puts you in the atmosphere. It's a really good song.

It’s probably gonna be 50/50. Either Camilla disapproves of Luz dating non human people, or she’ll be fine with it. Though, it’s possible Luzs mom and Amitys mom could meet later on in the series if there were a way to the human realm and they’ll not get on with one another and prevent their daughter from dating each other

I like the message if both this song and little miss perfect. As a person with ADD, I know how it feels to try to keep parts of yourself hidden. I tend to have trouble with focus and being calm. So the song reminds me a little of myself. Overall a great representation of luz though.

The line "but the characters I read never act or look like me" hit me hard too. I tried hard to be straight for a long time. I was one of those people who thought "I'm okay with other people being gay and all that, but I don't want to be that myself" partly because I never had good representation to let me know what it was like, and another part fear because half of my family is religious. I met some online friends that helped me accept myself, and just this year, I turned 18 and was able to fully come out on social media. And one of the things that really helped me accept myself came from my favorite book series, Percy Jackson, and the character Nico di Angelo. He was written to wear you're supposed to think he has a crush on the girl the main character has a crush on but it's revealed later that he actually has a crush on the main character Percy. And this was young me who thought most gay people had glitter in their hair, wore pink and walked around yelling "YAS QUEEN" but Nico was a character who had no outwardly gay tells but was. And that changed my perspective. So yeah. Long story short, a character coming out in a book in the long run helped me accept myself, and now come out
