A "NOT SO ORDINARY ADVENTURE" as it turned out! I'm just glad you were both safe been watching the news over here in the UK and THE LAST TIME I saw devastation on the scale the Ian brought to Florida was when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans (made worse by the levys breaching) I'm sure eventually Florida and Floridians will recover they are resilient! R.I.P to those that lost their lives in Florida to this hurricane and my thoughts and prayers go out from over the Atlantic in the UK to their families and friends at such a devastating time 😢
@FairyChild_For_Freedom-Justice2 жыл бұрын
As a Floridian I think you for your comment❤ we truly are resilient. We made it through Andrew as a category five in 1987 I believe will make it through this as well. And when the next hurricane comes we’ll make it through that one too. But it always feels good to know we have prayers From people around the world prayers are powerful thing.

Travelling from Australia and then caught up in Hurricane Irma Disney were amazing to us after our Disney cruise was cancelled extending our stay . A huge branch crashed into the resort room door and a Disney emergency crew were straight onto it we can't speak more highly of all the amazing cast members . New fan here! I was also taking a Disney vacation when hurricane Ian hit and I was very impressed with how Disney handled everything. My family has never experienced a hurricane so we were a bit nervous but we felt very safe at our resort (Pop Century Resort). We actually planned this vacation to celebrate my nephew's birthday so I really appreciated the cast members and characters for putting on dance parties, trivia, games, and sing alongs for the kiddos. They also provided us with flashlights, batteries, and some other useful items to prepare for the hurricane. My family and I were extremely thankful for their service.

Thanks for posting this. Glad you all came through it unscathed. I feel so badly for those that have lost everything down south. Scary times we are living in with climate change. Y'all are lucky to be in the middle of Florida. No storm surge. You got wind and rain. I've been through a lot of hurricanes. Starting in the1950s with Hurricane Donna. Then Gracie, Opal, Irma, actually, Opal came through Atlanta, turned around and came BACK thru! My granddaughter was being born the day Irma came through. Power out everywhere, trees down blocking roads, we had a devil of a time getting to the hospital. The wind on the bridges lifted my Subaru Outback right off its tires! So I am well aware of the danger.

Sorry for your bad timing. Hope you are able to have a good time despite the closure. It was cool that you shared your weather adventure with us. My heart goes out to everyone affected by the storm. Peter, I don't know how long ago you lived in New England but you must have witnessed worse storms than that. 😁I live in central Massachusetts and we have gotten some horrible storms over the years. The Blizzard of 78. Hurricane Bob, Hurricane Gloria. The Blizzard of 93. In 2008 we had a microburst hit the cemetery I work in and we closed for four days to pick up all the downed limbs and trees. The same year, we had a devastating ice storm in central Mass. At my house, we lost power for 14 days. Half the roads in my town were shut down for days until the National Guard came in to clear the debris out of the roads so they were drivable. Then we had the freak 2010 October snow storm. A lot of trees still had leaves on them so they held more snow. The damage was almost as bad as the ice storm two years earlier. Then the EF3 tornado in 2011 that started in Springfield and carved a path across the state all the way to Charlton. That winter, after a snowfall, a satellite took a picture of the tornado's path and it looked like a new highway going across the state. Stay safe. Hope you have a good time on the rest of your trip. ☺

Hey guys, we’re on the east coast of FL about an hour from Disney and boy we got hit hard. Been out of power for 5 days. Lots of damage and flooding my nieces house was destroyed. Worst hurricane in 30 years. Appreciate you doing this respectfully and not live streaming for superchats like some others did during the storm. Good to see how it was in Orlando. Lot different.

We are so sorry to hear that! We’ve heard from a lot of people who have lost a lot. The part of Orlando we were in obviously didn’t get hit as hard. Thank you for sharing your experience with us! I am from south Louisiana and I know how nerve wracking it is to prepare for a storm, so I can't imagine trying to prepare while on "vacation". We stayed at Satatoga Springs a couple of weeks ago and it was AMAZING.

Thank you for sharing so much of your experience. We were staying pretty close to where you were but had much less flooding and debris. We were also on the ground floor so it was amazing to see your footage from an upper level and from the water across from DS. We too feel fortunate to have made it through the experience without issue.

I would have been more scared being on the first floor!

@@OrdinaryAdventures we knew we were a good foot above parking lot level, so not worried about flooding. Just the awful wind!
