I feel for you guys. To spend all day and not get on is a slight disappointment, the biggest bummer is the pair of red kyber crystals and then to miss out on the one chance to get the black crystal, that felt like a bigger letdown than not getting on RotR (it's almost a tie in the letdown dept). Keep trying and my daughter got surprised by friends who took her to Disneyland this past Friday but they weren't able to get on either. Great video. See you again in the next video.

This reminds me of when I was in Japan and went to Tokyo Disney Sea really hoping to ride the Journey to the Center of the Earth ride... and it was closed for maintenance the day we went. We still had an awesome time, but that was a big bummer.

Personnally , i go to florida with my family and friend once a year in christmas and i can only go to one park and we chose hollywood studios in winter 2019 but unfortunately we didnt know about the boarding groups so when we wanted to get in rise of the resistance, and we couldnt because of the whole boarding pass situation. So we just did all the other attractions in the park and went back home without riding it. In the end we didnt care that much because we got to ride everything except that but we hope to come back this year and if we do, we will make sure to get the boarding pass. I had the same thing happen yesterday. Nothing loaded at park open. Got boarding group 82. And had a flight in Burbank at 9 to catch back home. Next time I’m force quitting my app ahead of time.

Went this last Monday just for Rise and Falcon. Boarding groups were filled in less than a minute after opening, we were lucky and got group 68 which boarded at about 3:45 pm. Since we were there for the 9 am opening we were able to ride Falcon with only about a 20 minute wait. Other than Galaxy's Edge being busy the rest of the park was relatively quiet which meant we were able to ride several other attractions.

We were there on the first Sunday. I had Boarding Group 66. Almost got Order 66’d that day. Up at 4 AM. Did not called for our group until 7 PM. My buddy got boarding group 82. They stopped that day at 81. We ended up napping in the car for a couple hours when we realized how slow the progress was going due to downtime. My seven year old was convinced that the entire ride was real. That is how good it was.

We went this past Thursday, got boarding group 96. Ended up being the last boarding group for the day. We felt extremely lucky to get on the ride. But the anxiety of whether or not we would get to go on started to take over around 6pm. Not annual pass holders, so it was absolutely worth it!

I am guessing it really depends on the status of the app. Someone just login that day, others logged in a few days ago and it expired. Maybe some data needs to be updated in your app while others just download the fresh new app that day. All these things determine whether you need to reopen the app or just simply refresh the page to get things done. To me, I feel like the safest way is to open the app before 8am, make sure everything works fine, check if app can locate you, check if the wifi or data works, then completely close the app. And reboot the app 5 secs before the 8am( maybe 10 secs or more if your smartphone is slow) and follow the steps to get it. Your bounding pass may not be as good as those lucky ones' who just refresh the page to get it. But it increases your chance. In the first time I just refreshed the page to get a 75. The second time I refreshed the page and I pressed the join button and it said "something went wrong" so I screwed up . The third time I did what I said above, and I got 43. Hope it helps.

My Brooklyn College friends and I went on Jan 21, 2020 in Galaxy Edge, Orlando FL. I'm the only one who started my day at 3:40 am, started driving at 5 am from St Cloud and got to the parking space 6 am. There were already thousands of people at the Gates. They let us in by 6:20 AM. I was able to booked on the Virtual App at 7 am. I was on Group 29. Rise of the Resistance didn't start boarding until noon because it was broken. I got in around 2:30 pm-ish.

Yeah, went there for our first, once-of-a-lifetime trip on the Sunday after it opened. Made it in the park with time to spare. When it came to boarding group time right at 8, all of a sudden it didn’t recognize that my husband and I had tickets. Told a CM within the first minute of this to try and fix the issue and was told better luck next time... So we didn’t get a thing. 🤷🏻‍♀️ it was still amazing to be in DISNEYLAND!

It's just speculation on my part, but given how intricate Rise of Resistance is, and because of that, how often the ride can go down, they will probably keep the boarding group system for a while. It will probably stay that way until the ride becomes more reliable with software patches and fine tuning. It's just easier to manage clearing the passengers when the ride goes down if they don't have to contend with standby and fastpass lines as well. Btw, I haven't met you guys yet but, of course we want to help you with the red kyber challenge. I would if I were there.

My secret to getting a good BG was to bring along my Gen Z niece...who texts as fast as she can talk. She has Jedi-like finger speed and got us into Boarding Group 3 (!!!) on Thursday. Yesterday she got us BG 55 after first getting stuck on the Boarding Group page. I sympathize with Kitra; I couldn't even get onto the Join a Boarding page. 😭 Another in our group was told he couldn't join because he wasn't in the park even though we were all past turnstiles. We were running late Friday so just stayed near the Giant Mickey head. I would recommend going deeper into the park to make sure you're inside the Geofence. Luckily, it worked out for us. Amazing ride, btw!!! 👍

The way me and my brother have been successful each time we’ve gone: 1. Be in the Disneyland app BEFORE 8 (or 9 depending when pro opens) and make sure you’re in and area where you have good internet 2. Click My Status for the boarding groups and as soon as it hits 8 (or 9) swipe down to refresh the page 3. As soon as it refreshes hit the back button once, then click Join Boarding Group My brother used this method opening day and 1 week after open and it worked both times, and this same method worked for me again on Tuesday! The highest boarding group we’ve gotten doing this was 31.

Yeah. I just got my boarding group. A few tips for us, naive East Coasters with one shot. 1. Definitely get through security by 07:00. Trust me, there will be a nice long line waiting for you after you get your bag checked. 2.Now, here’s the trick: Unless you have “magic hour” then the earliest you can enter Disneyland is 07:30. Time your line so you get to the front. Lines move pretty fast. At 07:30 you’ll see the sign flip from “Magic Hour” to entrance. 3. Turn off wi-fi. The cave entrance at Galaxy’s Edge gives you a pretty good signal. 4. Don’t be frustrated if the “Join the boarding group” doesn’t pop up. I did update my status & join a boarding group option twice at 08:00. Ended up with 74 which the employee said, “Not bad.” So even with technical app issues I got a guaranteed boarding group. Hope that helps someone. 🙂

Disney world has been fun with ROTR. Today was my third time, and I keep seeing more and more stuff each time!! First time I got group 12 which was lucky because I spent a few hours in the park then had to get back to work that afternoon! 2nd time I got 95 and barely got on but it was worth it. @@siyang2 the 2nd time my app crashed so I got a bad group because I had to shut it down and restart. My strategy currently is to pull the app up at like 2 mins before open and then hit the "find out more" button under ROTR when it rolls to open time. THEN do join group. You can sit in the app hovering waiting for the "join boarding group" to light up, but I think that's what crashed me the 2nd time.

@@siyang2 also make sure all other apps are CLOSED and you're off wifi. Disney wifi is crap and everyone is using it. Other stuff open and/ or keeping the Disney app open can cause it to crash and one crash at the wrong time you're not getting a group!

So I know it was crazy for us being there so early on opening day but there is something to say about the level of stress that comes with coming at a normal time. We did it the day after y’all tried and I HATED it. Hated that the gates didn’t open till 740. Not nearly enough time to clear the esplanade. Tough times. We got lucky walking in 2 minutes before 8 and got a good group but still. Stress!!!

Did you guys go on Saturday the 25th? We were there too and got boarding group 103. We got called at 8:08 PM after the breakdown at 7 PM, then it broke down again at 8:15 PM. They cut off the groups at 106, and then after 2 hours, it was back up and we finally got on at around 10:30 PM. We got to the park at 6:15 AM and the Toy Story lot opened at 6:30 AM. We were in the park shortly after 7 AM. We ended up getting a last minute hotel room and slept from 11 AM to 5 PM and then went back to the park. We had problems with the app because we did not know all the tricks to get the 'join boarding group' to light up. We left early Sunday morning without trying again.

I love that you show us what not to do. My question is, if I'm staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel, is that considered "in park" in which I do not have to get in line at 7am like you did in order to be "in the park" to book passes?

No you need to scan your ticket at the turnstiles to be considered in the park. This includes not just you but anyone in your group who wants to try to be in the boarding group.

Love your videos!! Heading to Disney World for the first time in March with my kids! Attempting to plan ahead of course. So just attempting to understand this correctly, it’s possible to enter park at 7am, leave and head to Disney Springs or somewhere else, and wait until 8am to get a boarding pass? We don’t actually have to present in the park to get the boarding pass as long we checked in prior to official opening? Hope that made sense lol. Thanks!!

so our first time we didnt get a boarding group... don't join disney wi-fi. You only have 1-2 minutes after park open once youre in the gate to get a chance to get a boarding pass. All people in your party should have tickets loaded on that persons app. You should arrive inside the gate about no later than 15 minutes before park open and stay by city hall. The second day we finally got boarding group 82! We got on the ride around 4PM that day... it was a Friday.

Hey guys, love LOVE your videos - they've been so helpful in planning our upcoming vacation! I have a question I'm hoping you or someone else can answer: do you have to be in Disneyland (on Disney grounds) to reserve Rise of the Resistance boarding passes? I don't know if there are geofencing restrictions on the app, or if we'd be able to place a reservation from our hotel room? We are staying at the Disneyland Hotel, if that matters. Everyone in your boarding party needs to have been scanned into Disneyland. After that you can be anywhere

Bright Suns! We were at Disney World over the Christmas season. Literally, the first crystal I picked up in the store turned out to be black (but I didn't know until the next morning). We were only allowed two, so my second choice was green. We also managed to get boarding party 24, but that was because we had a droid depot appointment at 6:10 and thought we had to be there right on time for that. We made some lightsabres in the evening. Never did get on the Falcon though. Pretty good for what may be our one and only day at Galaxy's Edge ever. Maybe you can do a video about the differences between how you get to do everything at Galaxy's Edge (although things seem to change at a moment's notice). We learned a droid depot appointment does not work like a lightsabre appointment.
