Yes, with the added fun of the Israeli "Eli Copter" pun on top. Note that this happened again later with the Ismail Haniyeh assassination, where some Israeli joker called the assassin "Amit Nakesh", which some Turkish paper picked up. It's a pun on the Hebrew word for assassin (Mitnakesh, מתנקש), a little like naming him "Mr. A. Ssassin"

I disagree that this was the most pressing issue for why Harris lost, but it does help paint the wider problem of how incompetent the campaign was. Harris capitulated on rightwing framing on every issue but abortion. She was tough on the border, tough on crime, jingoistic, and shut down any discussion of hurting billionaires’ bottom lines. This normalized and uplifted republicans’ misinformation riddled policies. She offered squat for minorities and eviscerated her boom in popularity upon taking Biden’s spot. She desperately wanted to have Biden’s voter base, and fell in the same hole that lost in 2016.

I think you glossed over the burning of the old Copenhagen stock exchange palace. There was a really uplifting side to the fire; people from all walks of life trying save as much art and as many cultural artefacts from the burning building as possible - Trademen, office workers, random passers by, dropping their bags, jumping off their bicycles, charging into the building and hauling out paintings, busts, and whatever wood carvings weren't nailed down. Theres a particular part of the spectacle where one moment a group including former minister of justice and head of the Danish chamber of commerce Brian Mikkelsen is bringing out the 1895 painting "From the Copenhagen Stock Exchange" and a few moments later a policeman and a waiter from a nearby café is dragging out its 1995 spiritual successor "The Chamber of Commerce".

You can critique the slavadorian president all you want for being a dictator or braking human rights, but when you were rised around the violence of criminial groups, experience such violence first handed, and watching someone finally doing something that actually changes the situation, you cannot help but feel glad that finally someone have the balls to do something about it. And no matter how "cruel" the salvadorian government could be, it will never compare on how cruel those criminal groups actually are

The end of this video has a welcome message. I have found myself distraught and depressed due to the sheer amount of suffering and conflict the world experiences in 2024, but that message and the whole video gave me a new perspective on things. As horrible as it is to be living through history, one, at least I'm alive to see it, and two, it's so ridiculous and dejecting that it kind of spins back around and becomes a bit motivating. If I fall and give up now, I let all things negative win. If I continue to engage and make my voice (however small) heard, maybe things can change. December was one big month of change for me in terms of depression and pessimism about the world. I hope 2025 is just as eventful in terms of change for the common people. Also that half-life clip... oh my heart... it reminds me of seeing palestinian ARMY (BTS fans) on twitter

Well before they cut the wires, lemme just leave a message here for you and everyone else who feels the same thing: Hang on. If all the sane people disconnect then you're letting culture be dictated by the insane. You're letting every future year look like this. You can take breaks, of course, but don't give up. Don't run and hide, because you will have to interact with this on some scale, whether it's the new products coming out or the culture your children will be raised in or even just the jokes your friends make. Hang on, and fight for your future. Make jokes, and art, and silly little skits, if we don't like what popular culture is then change popular culture. Even if it's just among your friends and family. Find things you enjoy. Share them. And for everyone you hold dear, Just. Hang. On.

It's how boomer politicians think, and the US is a gerontocracy, SNL was their internet memes. The Republicans are only marginally better on public opinion because they managed to find the guy who happens to be good at generating long lasting memes, and he brought the entire clown car with him. In the end, they are all enemies of the people, as you can see with the reaction to Luigi, which shows support from most common people and criticism (or silence) from most of the elites, irregardless of political party.

This year I found my first love, got engaged, took motorcycle trips all over the west coast of the USA, put on 14lbs of muscle, quit my pr0n addiction, quit video games, and uninstalled social media. Its been amazing. Great video Josh! Cya in 2025 (edit guys chill we will be engaged for 1-2 more years before getting married and a prenup agreement is being signed. I know what I'm doing bros)

I know you won't see this, but look up "social inflation" as it pertains to insurance. The murking was just another increase in magnitude of the same social pressures the insurance industry has felt rising over the last 2 years and change. I'm in said industry (not health insurance, thank fuck), and it was surreal to see a concept that the boss talked about only weeks prior escalate this directly.
