It's a simple fix, but you would be surprised how many people don't know there is a battery that needs changed on their Oreck Magnesium. Did this video solve the problem with your Oreck Magnesium? Let me know!

No, didn’t fix it. Apparently when it stopped working my mom sucked up her curtain and it stopped. Hasn’t turned on since.

You just saved me a hundred or more. I wondered how the wires got to the switch I have looked for days and was very concerned about taking the handle apart and then a REVELATION!!!!!!! iI's a remote switch with a simple 2032 battery. I borrowed one from a meter I have and VOILA it works. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT INFO.

I inherited this vacuum from my Mother In Law. I was going to hunt down the manual but did not think a power button issue would be addressed in it. I had no idea! What an odd thing. You saved me so much time - Thank you!

So Matt why did they design this like this? What advantage is their to having a remote control switch in the handle? To me it serves no purpose except to have to purchase a battery and keep changing the battery. Simpler to me to just hard wire a switch from the handle to the machine just like all of the other vacs have. Just something else that can go wrong and needs maintained. John in Ohio
@HouseOfVacuums3 жыл бұрын
I can only make a guess as to the reasoning. The handle is supported by 4 metal frame rods that are extremely thin. This skeletonized construction makes running wiring of a sufficient gauge to handle the current almost impossible. So, in my opinion, it is a matter of function being subjugated to form.
@ED4action3 жыл бұрын
@@silverado5469 good luck with that, you might get the vac motor to work on one speed, probly won't get the led lights. just replace the battery. i just repaired one with a blown fuse on the circuit board. i noticed the antenna on the board,i didn't even know about the remote switch till i watched this commercial riddled video. lucky for me i have ad blocker built into my browser {slimjet}.. aint nobody got time for 10 commecials on a 6 minute video.

What if you want to change out the whole handle, how do you connect the new handle to Bluetooth to old vacuum?
@HouseOfVacuums3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! To pair the handle with the vacuum, plug in the vacuum and press/hold the power button for 15 seconds. You should see the blue light on the nozzle start flashing and then you are all set!

So I have the Magnesium and love the machine except for this issue. I have now changed the battery twice in the last month - it still is totally intermittent - any other ideas?
@HouseOfVacuums3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay! It is true that some of them go through batteries faster. I have never found a solution for it, I think it may be an issue with the PCB. I wish I had a better answer for you! If it is still under warranty, take it to an Oreck dealer. Parts are not readily available for the Magnesium anymore. If they can't fix it, they will just give you a new Elevate. That's always an option.
@chipethecat3 жыл бұрын
Man even Shark got this right. On mine the remote controls on the handle uses wires embedded in the hose to remotely control it.
@HouseOfVacuums3 жыл бұрын
This is classic TTI engineering weirdness at it's finest.
@chipethecat3 жыл бұрын
@@HouseOfVacuums It’s definitely weirdness. There’s so many ways to do this better. The hose is probably the easiest.

Actually there is another common problem concerning resetting the power switch. I just need to find the tutorial on that again because it is also an easy fix. Search the two easy fixes when your Oreck won't turn on.

Yes, that is when the handle module needs paired with the receiver. There are several good videos on this with a quick search. Thanks!

Do you know if it is possible to adjust or raise the vac from underneath for a new "much thicker carpet" when there is no visible adjustment on the top or front of the vac. Most have a dial, but this one does not. The speed, or on off button is on top of handle and runs either hight or low speed. it is sucking really bad and very hard to move. Thank you.
@HouseOfVacuums3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! There is no height adjustment on the Oreck Magnesium. If it is suction cupping to the floor, I would first verify the brushroll is turning. If it is, check the length of the bristles on your brushroll and make sure they are not too short, as that can cause suction cupping to the floor as well. If the carpet is simply too high, you may want to look for a vacuum designed for deep, looped pile carpet like the Riccar R17.
@PaintingWithYovette3 жыл бұрын
@@HouseOfVacuums Thank you for those suggestions. I will check them out.

I wouldn't call that a feature lol. Good grief - what was Oreck thinking? Wire is cheap.

This abomination was a non-Oreck design at the hands of TTI's ownership. It is really an expensive Hoover/Dirt Devil. Thanks for watching!

Mine wouldn't power up after screw got jammed in my fan. I removed the screw, but still no power. Changed battery; you think it's more likely the PCB or motor?
@HouseOfVacuums3 жыл бұрын
Is it no power at all? If that is the case, my first thought would be PCB... I think I would take it to your local vac shop and see what's up.
