Nice bunch of Oregon ling cod and black rock fishing. A little too much PEW for me near the shows end without catching fish sequences. Looked like a bunch of fun!

I would love to take my family out. we are native oregonians and we love to fish. we fish off the jetty at barview, clam and crab in Garibaldi. we live inland in the valley, but if you ever need an extra hand....shout! I'll pay gas and clean 'em. :) I would be one happy mama!

TheFishingGuru46 hi fishing guru, I am the fish guru, you can't accurately identify a rockfish from a quick video without the camera zooming in on specific features. With that being said, it's absolutely a rockfish, not a cabazon (sculpin). You can easily see that from the dorsal spines and the anal spines. And I am talking about the fish at 3:48
@checkle19 жыл бұрын
TheFishingGuru46 but quillback is my #1 educated guess also ;)

The problem I have with this is that from what I can tell sardines are better for us than the larger predators. Balance is the answer.

Great vid. what scent do you suggest for rockfish up in Tillamook bay or in general and what brand? Also, is there any particular good spots up in Tillamook bay. Thanks

Rockfish are stupid and will go after just about anything. They cluster tightly, so the trick is finding the school. Easy to limit once you do.

That is why I like gone for rockfish and lings that is why I always liked throw some of the smaller Lings back because that way I know that is the best way to do it and when you're fishing for lings they will take good size soft plastic baits all the way up to 12" long soft plastic baits you always wanna go with a big Bait we're when you're going out for lings

Rockfish don't fight much, I find it kind of boring. I haven't found a good way to cook those things either, soft texture with a mild flavor. They are good for tourism.
@AnglerWestTV8 жыл бұрын
If your rockfish is mushy, than it's not being handled correctly from the time it's cooked to the time it's eaten. Make sure the fish gets cleaned correctly and put on ice. Don't ever let the meat soak in water. They do have a mild flavor but it's a great flavor if cooked correctly. In this episode-- kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqLdgHtjYteKhdE there are segments on making tartar sauce and on frying fish so it doesn't turn out mushy. Try steaming it with fresh basil, thyme and rosemary some time.
@1Howdy18 жыл бұрын
Angler West TV Thanks, I'll try that out - I'll eat them if I can improve the texture.
@definitelycortez34087 жыл бұрын
1Howdy1 Bleed them and put them on ice fast. Do the same after filleting..DON'T soak them. Fried up and spiced correctly make great fish tacos. That being said, I prefer Lingcod and Red tail Surf Perch. ;)
