It's like an alternative fourth of July parade. Held close to July 4th. When I was growing up we celebrated the fourth every year and it started with a parade like this and ended up in a gravel pit where there were games and food and prizes. This was mid 60's in Massachusetts. Then the hippies started coming (this was a very liberal community full of academics), but they seemed not content with this being such a patriotic party. So I envisioned that they then moved to Oregon where they elected to throw their own "alternative" 4th of July party. And voila - OCF was born. Or so this is how I always imagined it might have happened. :) And so here it is, the "original" Oregon Country Fair, from 1960 in Conantum, Concord, Ma. I was 6 yo. No sound unfortunately. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZy7kGSmgsykps0
