Where do you go when you don't know where you're going? Steens Mountain! This was an amazing hike into a remote wilderness that offered swift river crossings, consistent elevation gain, rugged scenery, and little shade from the southeastern Oregon sun.

Don’t know what is more impressive, all the drone footage or all the river crossings. Well done!

That river crossing was a real bear on the way out. The river raised by probably 30% from the warm days. We ended up spending an extra night on the bank hoping the level would drop. It did...a little, and my son was able to shame me across.

Hunted deer in the gourde back in the late 60s and through the 70s we stayed at veltie Pruitts camp up on top of the rim. At the head of fish creek. We would ride down into the gorge on horseback to hunt. Sometimes hike off the loop road then ride out. We shot many nice bucks down there as well as on top. Thanks for the video it brings back many memories. Jack shoemaker

That is the amazing thing about these videos, they have the power to give a little something to every person who watches. That's why I am willing to pack all that camera gear back in with me. Your comment is a gift. Thank you!

We hiked back out the next day and the river was up by another twelve inches. We had to camp at the bank and cross the next morning. It was still up over my waist and raging fast. Yow!

I really love overnights, but the pack weight jumps quite a bit.
