The first 2 weeks of offense for Oregon were not up to standard, though Boise State was an improvement from week 1. Was OC Will Stein using more plays than he did the first 2 weeks? Or was it as simple as the OL finally playing well?

Questions: How many O-line combinations did we see in the first 2 games? How many against OSU? As someone who trains athletes its also possible we were still just in the thralls of a meso cycle of training that is usually reserved for training camp. Knowing the season is going to be longer you plan your training differently anticipating a longer season because of making the playoffs. Who knows for sure, its logical to treat those first two games like pre-season games in the NFL, and just hope you have enough of a talent gap to win despite experimenting with positions and training. Just thoughts.

Truth is probably that DG is just not Bo. It took Stein a few games to dial in a specific offense for DG that he would feel comfortable in. Bo and DG just have different skill sets and the offense needed tuned to a different Qb.

What if Oregon is shuffling the O-line around so much to prepare for a long season. The further you go more games will be played and the top team at the end of the year will have a combination between deep depth at the most important positions, and not much to no drop off in fluency between these positions. Could be their way of being able to swap players out and use different combinations of them to knock the load off a single combination.

I’m glad you brought up last year‘s preseason games… Because Oregon could’ve thrown further than 8 yards against Idaho, like they did against Portland State… But they wanted to hold back the offense. And they tried to do the same vanilla offense for the first two drives against Boise state… But they realized by three they had to open things up. And as far as playing better last year… That’s not entirely true either, since Oregon had 14 penalties for 126 yards against Texas Tech, and nine penalties for almost 80 yards against Hawaii. So the notion that everyone keeps spreading… That Oregon was just way more poised, and didn’t have anything to work on to start the 2023 season, is nonsense. And you could tell based on last years lack of offensive production against Washington in mid October … That they didn’t want the same thing to happen this mid October, against Ohio State… which is why they didn’t wanna give Ohio State Oregon entire 2024 playbook on film, just so they could beat Idaho and Boise state by a wider margin.

Why, if so deep on the the defensive line, does Oregon not rotate in more players? I realize the first two games didn’t go as expected, but depth will be tested during Big 10 play and it would be nice for some young players to have some live reps.

I think the first few games was about seeing what else they had at offensive line besides pancho at center and it appears it isn't much XD. Also, not a fan of the Stein offense. I feel like there isn't enough downfield passing. Its painful to watch the bubble screens go nowhere. At least if the receiver runs up the field 5 yards and gets tackled right away, the ducks still gain 5 yards.

????? Is that actually a fan theory as to why Oregon was playing so poorly on offense for the first couple games? I mean on one hand... Sure if you can't hold the offensive line... You can't open up the playbook...(Or even sustain drives). And they're definitely working on and saving some things for big games later on. But that is definitely not why they started off the season so flat!

I don't share your general confidence in the future of the Oregon O-line. I think we missed on targets last year as well as this year in O-line recruiting and will need to tap the portal to keep up the standard of play at Oregon. I hope we are able to do so as you can see what happens when the Oregon offense doesn't get everything it needs from the O-line. I'm thankful that they appear to be getting better this season as next year could be very rough.

I still think Stein is vanilla OC sorry . And Beavers suck plain and simple . They were worse than both Idaho teams . Case in point 2 losses against our hated rivals . he can pull off the big win I can question his play calling. I have watched ducks play and gone to dozens of games. Since 92 ,, Frost was better OC ,Chip was a better OC . With players of less caliber . Don’t think this is over Riley is at a Michigan State I am not holding my breath on that’s one and than Ohio state . we should handle UCLA and after Ohio State Purdue got beat 66-7 by ND who lost to a good NIL . And I live in the heart of the Big 10 . I hope the ducks build off this . And they definitely have the talent. But to jump right away and say Stein is great, is totally acting like homers . 2 years in a row we missed playoffs cause of what I call bad play calling. Not a hater just seen to much vanilla calling. We have had great running backs and QBs and receivers . No reason to lose the big games. . Again we should have beat the beans this bad. Ducks have the talent but need the right play calling. And I get it’s not all on Stein. Players have to play . And cleaning up the penalties was a good thing
