Cape Kiwanda is fantastic it really is...and dangerous and the historic information I learned about the place is most intriguing mysterious and mystical nature and wonderous place. The Oregon coast is a fantastic place to explore and so many gorgeous nature trails to be discovered and endless amazing photo and video opportunities...the coastline truly can be dangerous so please drive very safely always and enjoy the many great camp grounds like the Harris Beach State Park Campground at Brookings Oregon it's awesome beautiful place and also the Barview Jetty Campground in Tillamook County further north ...the Oregon sand dunes are amazing as well. Hiking beach and coastline trails and exploring should be rather carefully each step because when ya walk the edge its dangerous in ways yet fantastic also...I've been exploring the Oregon coast for 2 months now escaping brutal cold winter up north and its amazing to explore all year round...and visit the Beautiful Historic Tillamook Pioneer History museum in a historic old Court house building and has been the museum for many years since the 1930s I was informed of when I visited. Love the Oregon coast and please don't litter and respect the beautiful places and have fun. I feelblike a spokes person for the Oregon coast ...it's just amazing and I wanted to share some supportive thoughts thank-you

Good job making this video about safety in this Cape Kiwanda, I've gone to this beach multiple times and folks are always trying to stand by Cape's cliff edges, or slide down the other side of the dune down to where the rocky wave areas are. Don't mean to sound like *that guy* , but people should follow the rules.

Can any locals explain why there is a $10.00 parking fee? I thought Oregon passed legislation that made ALL beaches free to the public.

The beach is w/i the jurisdiction of the ORPD and the "beach" (as carefully defined in state law) is publicly owned (cannot be privately owned). The parking area to which you refer is NOT part of the "beach." It is owned by the County. The parking area has been feeless until this year. Overwhelmed by large numbers of visitors, the County set a parking fee structure and also limited the the types of vehicles permitted (no motorhomes, buses or rigs with trailers that are not dories). Fees are designed to limit impact as well as underwrite the cost of parking enforcement in the streets, unauthorized parking on private property (driveways and yards - yes, this has happened) and clean up the ubiquitous trash, garbage, and bio-waste that is being left as "gifts" for the "locals" to clean up afterwards. Unfortunately, large numbers of visitors conduct themselves as boorish clods.

Thanks for mentioning the parking fee. They put up fences,so I didn't know if I could get to my favorite place, and I didn't want to pay the parking fee, only to find out I couldn't get to my favorite place.
