This is a flop. Most speakers do not know what JVP-NPP is or for that matter even the moderator does not know JVP history correctly. It was the 1971 insurrection that JVP initiated as a Marxist party. The second uprising was a direct result of the 1982 Government proscription of the JVP under the pretext that it was involved in communal violence against Tamils which government itself sponsored and initiated. JVP uprising was against suppression of its political rights and then again against India's forceful intervention and imposition of federal system upon Sri Lanka. If you understand these circumstances and later the transformation of JVP into a broader coalition of every strata of the society from peasants to Scientists in the world (Sri Lankan expatriates) you will stand a chance at looking at the election objectively. NPP policy clearly lays out its international policies. These experts appear to be lost in their own interpretations. This is a disservice to the cause.

As a Sri Lankan, I would say I have never seen a Rajini or Bhagya as a political analyst in my country. I don't think either Bhagya or Rajini have read the NPP's foreign policy. There are a few mainstream political analysts in our country, but they are not among them. The BJP (NDA) secured only 36.56% in the general election and lost its single majority in the Lok Sabha. AKD uses a pragmatic political approach rather than a specific socio-political theory.😂

What Rajni gamage said at her last statement was totally false. NPP didn't say anywhere that party is selecting the members to the parliament.What they were telling was members will be elected based on the preferential votes and according to the constitution that is how members are elected. NPP is the most democratic party at the moment and there was no issues with regard to the candidates withing the same party such as SJB and other parties.

My support goes to NPP no doubt about that. Nalinda Jayatissa clearly confirmed yesterday at 'Satana' programme in Sirasa T v, that they are selecting the members of parliament though it will be by a preferential votes. Person who get highest preferential votes, some times he may be not a person to go to parliament. Their idea is all the candidates are well qualified and suitable as a parliamentarian.

And about Sri Lankan Airlines… everybody can scream privatization but that doesn’t mean there are buyers out there knocking down the door to buy it. SLA’s service has been consistently top notch for many years. It needs the hardware (new planes) to go along with its top notch soft product. This is according to a recent analysis by an airline analyst. To get the hardware, they need to find approx $300m capital infusion. Maybe there is an angel investor out there who is willing to take a flyer 🤞🏽

India’s influence over Sri Lanka will need to change course as new unities forged within shall blunt some of the old tools that were used in the past. Indian bureaucrats have made a mockery of its foreign policy in the past and should better serve its interests if they redraw policy to woo the islanders. As for the Lankans it’s good to utilize this moment to build on inclusivity that was absent in the past and clean up its bureaucracy and rid corruption. Sri Lanka’s location on the map will see many suitors vying for a piece of the action and that shall be the driver for its success. Sri Lanka has all the signs of achieving rapid economic growth.

It's simple arithmatic that when you have a three-way election, there can not be 50% or more from one party when all three contenders are equally strong. For India, it's not how Srilanka will progress buy, more concerned about the China factor. What the NPP has pledged is that Srilanka will not take any action, which will be detrimental to India"s security. Srilanka will not make the same mistake twice made during JR Jayawardana era.

These guys do not seem to know what democracy is. When there are three major candidates one gets the majority out of three s/he wins. You cannot count the other two opponents votes and compare it to the winner and say he didn't have majority. Very poor reading on JVP . JVP has never been leaned to Sinhala nationalism. So that it is not resonable to define JVP history as a mix of sinhala nationalism and Marxism. JVP was against separatists(LTTE)and indian government who helped LTTE separatists during 1980's. JVP ideology was different from sinhala nationalism. The NPP foreign policy is based on the principle of non-alignment (please study the NPP Manifesto!), and they have clearly stated that their aim is to make a good country free from corruption, bribery, nepotism + cronyism.
