Bk Lkshy Governments are supposed to develop systems which help the citizens without any intervention of any kind What has happened over time in India is the interaction of general public with government institutions are fairly less and is way more rigid and requires intervention of every kind (sometimes political or sometimes financial) without which things can’t be done in the current system. So for everything the majority political class and beaurocracy is to be blamed. If systems are in place people (majority) will fall in line

While there’s always something to learn from others, India doesn't need to follow China too closely. I have a few basic suggestions: 1)Build more public toilets to improve street hygiene. 2)Ensure street children attend school instead of begging for money, food, and other necessities. 3)Encourage more action and fewer empty words from public figures, like this interviewer. If you can focus on these three simple things over the next 10 years, India will undoubtedly improve, and your people will be proud of your leadership.

The world has great need of the intellect of Jaishanker, especially India which is carrying so much baggage as the Foreign Minister has subtly mentioned early in the interview. It is this retention of ever increasing problems, put aside which compounds the negativity of not being able to move forwards as well as lost opportunities. Samir has a very fine mind, but his inability to contribute more to the Indian cause, is reflected by his obsession to blame China. And it stems way back to the China/ India border issue. The border issue could’ve been resolved in the late 1950s when Nehru and Chow En Lai were their respective PMs. There are sufficient evidence from Indian sources which lay blame squarely on the shoulders of Nehru, who was either naive at best, or inadequate to address a very political issue. In being inadequate, to put it graciously, he did immeasurable damage to the India/ China relationship, by misleading the Indian Parliament, and thus the citizens of India, by drawing a line as the border on an unchartered map, and declaring unilaterally that was the border. As Nehru was so popular and loved by the Indians in the euphoria of their independence, any error by him , would not be countenance by the Indians. As the whole region is extremely desolate with very spare population, and without the guidance of properly surveyed markers, many skirmishes are bound to result from miscomprehension. This eventuated in 1962 to a very large military conflict which was a pity, more so tragic than India coming off severely beaten, but impinged into the psyche, an enormous degree of hate from the shame of such a defeat. So since 1962, the border is usually referred to as the Line of Control, which at best are some arbitrary landmarks and presence of troops. The Indian PM, Modi when asked about the border issue has consistently answered that there were no Chinese troops on Indian soil and in this interview, unlike just about every Indian, the FM of India made no reference to China as infringing into his country, while alluding to the border issue. If one listens to every other Indian politician, the emotion that is aroused is negative when it comes to China. The only way to resolve the dispute is to go into negotiation, but the mood of India, hasn’t as yet overcome its innate sense of being right. Nehru has left a very negative legacy, is the most appropriate comment. It is a most daunting task for any Indian leader to suggest anything other than the perception of the Indian public. I think both Modi and Jaishanker have little confidence that they are brave enough to be up to the task. This does not diminish the value of Jaishanker’s understanding of the peculiarities of the Chinese to help towards better relationship with China. A take away from him is also that in his opinion, the Chinese are pragmatic and keenly confronts the challenges at hand and Indians, tend to procrastinate and ride on emotions, more readily.

At 21:14 Saran finishes asking the question - those assessing India would say that "India's a soft state, the sustained political muscularity to defend core interests is missing". This was right after the Foreign Minister rightly criticised the Manmohan Singh govt. and Shivshankar Menon as his NSA for Sharm Al Shaikh and Havana. Shivshankar than smiles a cryptic smile, brushes his hair and goes into 'look'.... What is Saran suggesting? That we keep tensions high with Pak all the time? That we attack them more? What is he referring to? What was Saran's comment really about? Can anyone decode that?
@swostibibhamohapatra42025 жыл бұрын
good analytical comment sir. I can clearly understand the biasedness you are pointing to. And being a 12th grader, when I go through the think tank's editorial, the division of bias is sharply visible, for instance more critical opinions are published in sites/newspapers which are known for taking partially critical side while other articles remain at their best place.

Thank you Samir, and Shri Jaishankarji, Our psyche is so different from the Chinese, we are a Jugaaroo nation without long term problem solving skills. We create reforms without thinking things through. We often don’t take time to educate the public through debates in the Universities and think tanks for a robust policy with a vision of 30 years hence. Discuss anything and everything. In the meantime apply or implement a policy in a small way at a Block or district level, like a Psycho Social experiment. Some how universities are completely de linked from the Process of developing Real research grounded in Current Psycho-Social, Economic problems. 🙏. Wonderful discussion.

first this indian constitution in its current form will ensure nothing changes. there is simply no accountability, so how will long term problem solving skills be developed ?..we dont have a consensus on what is a problem and what is not given the demographic diversity. every 5 years govt will change, and so will the vision of what is a long term goal and solutions to it.. see muslims in india for instance : they dont see islamic radicalism as a threat to the country and there is no narrative that sticks deep within the masses. what binds india as a nation itself is unclear for many...even the so called name sake hindu intellectuals. simple open shut fact of religious persercution and massacre of nonmuslims in kashmir itself at the hands of jehadi kashmiri muslims is not possible for the govt to acknowledge

Chinese narrative is shaped by its civilizational values. I have been in China since 1987. China is not a Communist country. China elder leader the late Deng Xiaoping described it as 'socialism with Chinese characteristics' and quickly thereafter added to it his popular statement 'it doesn't matter if the cat is black or white as it catches the mice ' which immensely impacted China's grand narrative. China rewards good performers and punishes those engaged hurting the 'motherland.' In contrast, the heart of India's justice system seems to be suffering from perpetual cardiac arrests dealing with corruption cases...The average Indian feels if it took 150 years for Ayodhya Case traveling through the constricted arteries of judicial process, enormous patience can also be afforded for the basketful of corruption cases involving senior politicians....One Chinese Official once painted a descriptive picture of corruption as the hidden, uncalculated costs if doing business and it has disastrous effect on the Economy. India's corruption is driving a parallel clandestine underground economy that continues to amass huge stash of blackmoney.

Mr. Minister one thing we must understand A south Indian will think differently on land border problems than the north Indians. A north Indian will think differently on maritime issues than a south Indian.

They are not anti-national....they are just selfish .....they care more about them ...than the country....
@shaileshmish67015 жыл бұрын
@@tstanmoysamanta they are not simply selfish. Read for example rajiv malhotras work. There is a chrislamocomie nexus to break India into many pieces. Also read the agenda 2020 manual of communist maoist party how they plan to grab the national power.

Ultimately,India will break up.Parts will be taken over by China and Pakistan.The rest will go back to the Middle Ages. In other words,India has no future. Our form of democracy is fake.Smart people should leave India.

This is in some way the problem of our mindset., we see one cook performing well we want to make him painter too. Meaning he is good EAM because he is veteran to that part doesn't mean he can handle HRD too. We need to find a better HRD Minister but him only.

Lots of admiration for jayshankar. I also feel shunning democracy and secularism played a substantial role in china's rise.

Yes you are right. Secularism is a core factor of our traditional value system, which is the potential strongest motivator of the emergence of our country and also to revive our ancestors’ glory.

One of the Best point Jaishankar made was Problem solving....be it article 370, triple Talaq, Ayodya verdict, CAA and NRC...its important we are resolving those issues so that we dont drag them for decades Protesting for it...again and again for decades...is waste of manpower time energy Its important we get along with the flow and try to unite India
