It's such a privilege to be able to watch these wild grizzly bears at the Bute inlet/Orford Bay. A close-up of a bear eating a salmon in beautiful surroundings. We had lots of luck that the bears come as close as they did.
A grizzly bear/brown bear right in front of us. His nose in the water looking for the salmon. Salmon is so big we never saw anything like it before. The bear catches one and is holding it in its paws. It's end of September end of the season. So the bears are quite lazy and already had their fair share and they looking for the easy catch or they just look for salmon with eggs and disregard the rest. They tolerate visitors and come as close as two meters from where we're standing. There is a bit of a rock barrier where you look down, so it wouldn't be as easy for them to get to us. The bus and guides are always there watching over our safety.
Nature is quite cruel. When the bear takes the Salmon out of the water and it gets skinned alive by the bear. The salmon still moving its mouth. Finished, the grizzly walks off leaving half on the riverbank.
