I've watered my tomatoes and flowers with powdered milk mix. I never knew to spray them. Thank you! If DE Earth is used at the base of the plants and under 🍃, the bees aren't affected. They typically focus on the flowers or land at the top of the plant. 🐝
@TheBigBlueHouseHomestead3 жыл бұрын
The milk spray really helps out. It doesn't get stinky either. I usually use DE at the end of the day. Just to make sure the bumble bees have gone to sleep somewhere else. 😀💜

As long as you stay on top of the pests, they won't take over your garden.

Pesky bugs! Ugh... I never heard of milk. Yes, I keep neem oil on hand. My squash or Cuke leaf has mold on half. I guess I should use peroxide? I see u switched your profile pic! Very cool!!😊👍💖🌻

When is the best time to spray the milk? Morning or evening? With no sun on the plants?

Oh no! unless the light is making yellow look pink, that looks like our native pink spotted lady beetle! Same elongated, but small, size as a cucumber beetle, and they look nothing like the round domed Asian ones you mostly see now. I also saw these this year, but on corn, so looked up pink cucumber beetles. Found out we have a small native lady bug that frequently gets killed due to mistaken identity. (As well as the regular spotted cucumber beetles.)

What I saw in the video was definitely a pink spotted ladybug, I agree with you. I actually purchased them years ago to infiltrate my garden with them in order to destroy aphids, and still have many around. They’re such good bugs! showmeoz.wordpress.com/2014/06/03/pink-cucumber-beetle-look-again/
@TheBigBlueHouseHomestead3 жыл бұрын
This was the first year that i have seen that bug. I looked up the varieties, and a blog site said it was a cucumber beetle. I didn't see them on the plants, when i sprayed with neem oil. Honestly, i didn't spray for a day. I was too busy. Thank you for letting me know. I will make sure to let those live.

I didnt know about milk . I have a bottle of neem , but I think the beetles gave my cucumbers bacterial wilt .They are strong plants , maybe they would survive ?
@TheBigBlueHouseHomestead Жыл бұрын
You can remove leaves that are damaged. Then, the plant focuses on new growth. I really hope they thrive for you and you enjoy those cucumbers 😀
