I've got storage boxes from IKEA and separate them into categories as well. I've got: spare hammocks, blankets, etc; spare treats and treat accessories for free roam like treat balls; spare cage supplies like ropes, litter trays, water bottles, huts, etc; and then free roam supplies. IKEA do lovely storage boxes that you can match to your room's theme and I make sure the boxes I need most often are easily accessible! ☺️ For things I use everyday like baby wipes, dust pan and brush, I have a little IKEA cart.

Hey Emi! Today I went to check on my beloved mouse after not seeing him for a day (he is extremely active and always looking to come out of his cage) which was super unusual. I looked around and saw him laying there not breathing. He was as solid as a rock and lifeless. I don't understand because he was under a year old. Are there any common things that happen to mice all the sudden? I know that in order to answer that you would have to know pretty much his entire history and everything that's happened to him, but in general, what are some things that can happen to mice very suddenly? I never noticed a loss of appetite or interest in water, and he was super active up until this morning. I noticed that his nails looked red, is that normal?
@Emiology3 жыл бұрын
I’m so sorry for your sudden loss. There’s a few things that could have happened but it may have just been something like a heart attack that you couldn’t have prevented and like in humans can happen very suddenly and at any age. A little piece of comfort is that if he seemed okay this morning I don’t think he suffered and it would have been very quick 😞❤️

I’m so confused on what to do with my rats ! I have two boys that are like 9months old- year old. I’ve had them since like 6 weeks old and at first they were easy to handle in the sense they wouldn’t bite. So cleaning there cage and getting them used to being held wasn’t a issue. Apart from the fact that they were extremely skittish when in the cage, they got really anti people after some time living in a room we infrequently used even though we’d see them multiple times a day. so we moved them into a room were frequently in. It made them a lot more curious of us and social, they’d come collect there treats, make noise around them without being frightened ect. At this point my rats are getting bigger and looking a lot more like adults as the days go on, they won’t let us touch them, and when we try, they bite us. I tried letting them free roam a couple times thinking it was cage aggression, but I cannot stop the rats from migrating to small corners in the room to hide for hours, there’s nothing I can do to get them to want to come out and socialise. Recently we had a breakthrough and one of the rats would lick treats of my boyfriends finger without biting him, today though I feel like all the progress has been lost because every time he’s gone to try give them treats today like we do everyday to socialise them and get them hand friendly, he was lunged on and attacked mutiple times by the rat we thought was most social, each time drawing blood and leaving a massive wound. I’m getting increasingly nervous because I don’t wanna push these rats too far but don’t want them anti social at the same time there whole life’s, I also don’t want to put my boyfriend or me at risk. We’ve never had a bite this bad in weeks, we thought there was major change in the rats behaviour until today. Does anyone know anything we can try to help the rats feel happier and less aggressive towards us, I spoil them rotten and they have a massive cage, we socialise them and tried free roaming but in months nothing has worked, is it just a case of keep trying? Sorry this was so long for anyone reading

Is it ok for me to breed two rats if I buy them from a good breeder and I keep all the babies?
@Emiology3 жыл бұрын
Not really, most reputable breeders won’t sell rats to someone if they have the intention of breeding them without wanting to seriously start breeding lines. If you’re interested in raising one litter, have a look if a local rescue needs fosters, or if you get a good relationship with a breeder over time they might allow you to take on one of their litters. But breeding can be difficult and come with unexpected emergencies that aren’t for the faint hearted
@xxkenzie_x3 жыл бұрын
@@Emiology that completely slipped my mind. I just thought that was the best option as if I get from a good breeder it’ll be quite expensive so why not just breed them one and have a whole litter of pups from them. If I had to I wouldn’t mind fostering/adopting a pregnant mama but that just came to mind cause breeding chain pet store pets is a no go due to health issues. Thank you
