Get a dehumidifier for that room! My library is in our finished basement, but it still gets a big humid down there during certain times of the year. So I spent $100 on a dehumidifier for that room to protect my books.

Your library is so pretty! I told my boyfriend when we eventually build our house I want a two story library because I love love love collecting stuff! From game of thrones, shadow hunters, to Harry Potter and so much more I love my collections and need somewhere safe and special to display them. I love the lights on the selves I never would have thought of that.

My house has been extremely humid too! I don’t get it. I’ll be fine one minute and then sweating buckets the next. It’s worse for my because my room in the house is in a darker corner and where it gets the most sunlight so my room is SMOLDERING all day. I’m glad you mentioned your books because now I’m paranoid about mine.

Dang the humidity is NO JOKE to the books! I grew up in Michigan which is pretty humid in the summer, but I didn't have nearly as many books then. Now I'm in Arizona which... yeah not humid at all. lol I am FOREVER jealous of your shelves!

The insects in those acrylic blocks are alive at first. I'm not sure of the exact process but I researched it when I was a child as I thought they looked amazing but wanted to know more about the ethics and such.

Hmm..I can't imagine they would be alive going into the resin because the movement would ruin the resin. I also don't think (at least on a professional level) that there can be liquid on/in the specimen because it will still be able to rot from the inside where resin can't reach. However, if these insects are caught/bred just for this...icky. The websites from people who blog about it say they find theirs dead...can't say what the bigger shops might do but I can probably guess it's not nice 😣
