Hey Guys! Today's video is on my updated cash envelope system. Yes! I am back in cash envelopes. And today I'm sharing why I'm moving back into the cash envelope system, how this will change my current budgeting process, and how I will keep track of my cash spending. Do you use cash envelopes?

Yes! It's been a big game-changer for me!!! I've been using them for over a year now. I organize them (they are whole punched) in an A6 binder. Each has its own register. I also keep my sinking funds binder.

Maybe we need a cash emergency fund at home🤔. At least 500 to 1000 dollars?

I use cash envelopes as well. (Gas for my car, groceries, and household items). I’ve been able to itemize how much I need for each category monthly and it has proven to be a smooth and seamless transition from pulling money from my debit, or hoping I have enough money for groceries, lol. I’ve been doing my cash envelopes now for over 6 years.

I have been using cash envelopes since February and it really has been a game-changer. I watched a lot of YTers who have envelopes for 10-20+ categories and I thought I needed that. In July, I whittled mine down to just six basic categories and it has been really great. I also find doing weekly cash stuffings easier (and smarter for me) than doing them biweekly with my paycheck. Right now, I rollover any leftover funds to the next week, taking out any $1 bills and change for savings, but I may start putting the leftover towards extra student loan payments once the forbearance ends.

I've always liked the thought of cash envelopes, but have always refused to do it because of the risk of losing the cash. It's easier to quickly cancel a debit card than to get lost cash back.

I feel the same way. Unfortunately crime is rising where I live and it's just not safe.

I use electronic cash envelopes using the zero based budget method. I have all my different categories and i just add to the total when i am “stuffing” and subtracting when i am spending. I always make sure everything in my categories adds up to the money in my bank account so it never gets off. I love this better than cash stuffing because i am constantly worried about losing cash.
@kjw793 жыл бұрын
How many times have you needed to cancel your card because you lost it? I think it would be rare to loose much cash. I’ve done envelopes for years, and the point is you don’t take much cash out and about.
@oliviabuquet19183 жыл бұрын
@@kjw79 the real question is how many times have i left my purse or wallet somewhere and had to go back track and find it. Even in a “safe place” i feel like the cash is going to be the first to be stolen. My electronic envelopes work just the same without the risk of losing the cash

I’ve been doing cash envelopes for the last 2 years and it has been a game changer for our expenses. Although I still use credit cards for the perks of free money. I remove the money from envelopes and pay the credit card at the end of the month. I’ve also found a system for me that I don’t have to go to the ATM too often 😊💜

I use cash occasionally, but I would usually forget to go to the ATM, and since I moved, I do not have a local bank. I do not want to pay high ATM fees, and I have found that doing “cash back” when purchasing at the grocery store tends to throw the rest of my budget off. So, for now, I am paper budgeting and using my debit card.
@username000093 жыл бұрын
Some of the online banks offer no ATM fees. I have one that offers withdrawals from a network of ATMs, mostly at pharmacies and gas stations. Another one gives me a credit to offset all ATM fees charged by other banks.

We use a debit card for fuel and food. I would use cash envelopes for craft (supplies and small tools) and self care. My biggest over the budget expenses are the craft category and planner category so I would want to pay cash for those two areas.

Im using, cash envelope too. This method is really good to motivate you for saving. Especially, when you have balance from any categories. However, i find it a bit difficult when you want to buy something and you dont have the exact amount. When you want to categories back the change that you received. Appreciate it so much, if you can give suggestion on how to solve this issue. Thank you for the video sis! You are my inspiration for organizing and budgeting. Tata. :)

I also enjoy using cash envelopes for the following categories (Gas, Household, Daycare (Bi-weekly), Misc, and Guilt Free Spending) because once it's gone its gone, I'm aware account balance and to have a small amount of cash on hands for an emergency.

Yes. I use a cash envelope system..it's just my own very simple where I first do a budget. Then I take a small envelope for each category and put the amount of cash in it that I budgeted it for. I also have the amount of cash I want to put into my savings every month which is when I get my monthly check. I write the category in the upper right hand corner and the amount that goes into the envelop. When the money is gone from the envelop I know I can't spend more on that category. It works for me and that's all that matters. The only thing is the paper gets worn. I have seen cash envelope systems where it's in a binder with plastic envelopes and dividers. They are great except I feel someone could just walk off with the whole thing. A few years ago I had hundreds of dollars stolen from me and don't keep cash.i my room anymore. I keep it in another safe place. Abby Delgado
