Oh my gosh all of these Make Up Geek shadows are giving me such nostalgia. They still make up the majority of my single eyeshadow collection, but to hear them talked about on camera gives me throwback feelings! Coco Bear is still my favorite matte eyeshadow of all time.

Underground Rouge Society a lot of the shades are soooo pretty !!!! Goes to show u that we can buy affordable shadows and build our own rather than buying these pallets that keep coming out and don’t need

@@cindyromero584 it can be so great because you just get the ones you want but let's say an Anastasia Beverly Hills palette only has 4 shades I like and I can get them individually, that costs almost as much as the whole palette. Buying 14 colourpop single shadows is $63 and a whole high end palette is around $50. It's worth it to make a whole z palette of just shades you like but shadows plus the empty palette is $83 and that's cheap colourpop shadows. At $6 a pop it would be a $104 palette of only 14 shades. Outrageous.

Hi Lauren, you may have already disposed of your unwanted shadows. But I thought I would say that Colourpop ‘Kill Switch’ 20:08 is a great shade for a one-shadow brown Smokey eye. I’m like you, where I don’t usually like glitter in matte shades, but this is my exception. It’s worth trying. It’s that good. LOVING this video. My all-time favourite type of video because I only buy single shadows now. And it’s wonderful to hear your opinions. Cheers 🥂 🍾 💖

Tina Cahoon I did 2 of the Jaclyn hill vaults, the purple and the darker one, the Jaclyn Hill palette and the James Charles palette. There were only a few of the same shades like browns and black but it’s nice to have all of them in one palette so you know what you have. It’s also nice to kinda compare the similar shades and pick which ones you like or to keep as back ups.

You totally inspired me!! I sorted to color (I’ve always had a thing about keeping brands together but you helped me break it) and kept them all. Then I went back the next day and really went color by color and compared. I thought I wouldn’t get rid of any MUG but a lot of them were off, like yours. I emptied 2 z-palettes and 2 small ones. Thank you!!

Could be an awesome idea. You could also have a few small magnetic palettes and put together your own custom palettes to use for a week or something. Or when you like some new palette coming out trying to dupe the color scheme with the singles. Just so many possibilities with single shadows. IMO that's way better than having those huuuge morphe palettes.

When I did my single shadows I put them all in a shoebox lid so they were less precarious -- granted I live with 2 dogs who are curious, my 2 yo nephew, my mom, 2 brothers and my sister in law soooo I needed to be able to quickly move it off the table if I needed to.

I've had to recently get rid of a lot of makeup geek shadows. They turned bad and the worst one was one called pillow talk. It was a metallic but when I swatched it the texture and color was so off it actually scared me. I had not ever seen a shadow that bad before. I washed it off my hand very quickly. It was like thick and chalky and the color was awful.

I have so many old MAC shadows like years older than MG and my MAC ones are still ten times better than my makeup geek ones. I’ve had nearly all my MG singles go bad other than the foiled shadows. They are patchy, dry, crumbly and the colors were off.

I recently decluttered my single shadows. Now I have a huge, double sided palette and two single layer palettes. I have always kept the shadows according to color. I like not having to go from palette to palette looking for the "right" purple, etc. The only palette I have that's a brand palette holds my Lethal shadows, because I can't put square pans in with round (I just CAN'T).

I have my single shadows arranged the exact same way in the exact same palettes (except I don’t have the Clionadh shadows.) I’ve got a neutrals and warms palette, a greens and blues palette, and a mauves and purples palette. I just don’t have any empty slots in any of them... I think that means that I don’t need anymore single shadows. 😉

Hey Lauren! So I know that the rule of thumb is that if a powder product has changed texture is probably time for it to go. However, is this a preference thing or does it create a health risk for your eyes? Just curious! I know smell would be a very obvious sign that there could be nasty bacteria, but texture doesn’t seem quite as obvious

So a change in texture and smell especially signals a change in the formula--likely bacteria,old or something in the formula has expired/gone off. Unless the color has changed drastically it can be from the sun fading the pigments but most of us aren't leaving a palette with a clear lid or a palette open in the sun to cause this.

I didn't buy the MG foiled shadows when they came out because they were just too expensive. Now I'm kind of glad I didn't get them, even though they were beautiful. I did buy the original bundle of power pigments and those have started to get very gritty feeling. They still work, but it's disappointing given the price point. I noticed they started selling the power pigments for like a third less than their original price and that's about right I think.

I have some singles from MAC that are HELLA EXPIRED from like 5-8years. Obviously, I don't use them... But it also breaks my heart to trash them 💔 I already trashed the ones that crumpled. Im still hanging on to the ones that look/feel good.

I would spray them with rubbing alcohol just to help disinfect them/ to make sure it is the actual ingredients in the formula that are just getting old vs bacteria and such in the pan.
