I always feel that bit of melancholy when I undress my house from Christmas decorations. It has been that way for as long as I've had my own home. But you're right, once you get it done and things back in order, it does feel good and somehow the spirit and the heart seem more ready to begin the adventure of a new year! God, please be with each of us into this part of our individual journeys in 2025. The passage of time always seems to shine brighter before my eyes when a new year starts. I sure got to give that to the Lord, or it can fuel a sadness that won't serve any real purpose. Thanks for all the good you share with us, Tipper.❤

I’m behind on your videos. I’m going to go back and watch the past few. We are psychological beings. Funny how putting up the Christmas things is so fun and anticipation-filled. Yet we don’t like to take them down. It reminds me of driving somewhere on a trip versus driving back when the trip is over-glee and excitement versus melancholy or bittersweet. Your humility and openness, your self-deprecating thought process, is so endearing and comforting…(“I should’ve known…”)

I’m looking out the window and the mounds of snow are getting higher. It’s freezing and snowing like crazy, it is -19°c here, with the wind it feels like -25°c. We are in 7a/b east Tennessee. The only winter squash that grow well for us are as follows in order of highest production per vine to lowest: Cherokee Tan Pumpkin, Long Pie Pumpkin, Seminole Pumpkin. I grow them all up cattle panel trellises. They are all tasty baked in the shell, pie custard, roasted with oil and garlic, soup, boiled and buttered. Very tasty pumpkins.

Tipper, I believe you may have me beat! I love seeds too! I have tons! I use the same plastic container and place it in my freezer ,it takes a big space in the freezer . We use the old fridge, freezer in the shop to put my seeds in . That is all that is in that freezer! I still find seeds in drawers, closets, and in the freezers in the house. LOL I think back to 2020 seeds were hard to find them. I can’t think I would live without having a garden. LOL

Milkweed alwways evokes memories of being young and walking home from school in the fall. We'd pull the dry pods off the stalks and open them, pulling as carefully as we could the individual seeds with their white silky threads and letting them drift in the wind. Sometimes we'd play 'he loves, he loves me not' with the seeds threads much like you would with the petals of a flower.

I store my seeds in a big container like that too. I have a label maker so I make tags an place on the edge of the container so when they are in the big container you can see all the different seed names you have without pulling each one out. I then put them in alphabetical order. If I marked them like you I would have to pull each container out to see what was in the smaller boxes.

I’m honestly envious of all your Christmas cards! I used many of mine, collected over the years, in crafts this past Christmas. It’s amazing what some Mod Podge, glitter and sparkly pipe cleaners can do. We use the same type of box as yours for saving seeds. Just one of them, though, since our garden is much smaller than yours. I have a couple of sayings I’ve made note of because they sure seem like wisdom to me- “Interrupt anxiety with gratitude.” And “fear always pushes you. Wisdom always leads you.” I’m glad you and I both got some longed for snow!

We usually have a small indoor Christmas tree for table top use that has roots and is potted. We keep it watered as any needed, like any other plant, and then leave it in it’s pot outside - the one we currently have is now 3 yrs old and hasn’t grown very much so can still be used like this. It’s healthy and a lovely shape. We also buy one for the front of the house that is larger, should our indoor tree get much bigger, we’ll use that outside instead. It saves the cost of buying a new one each year, and reduces the loss of another tree so is more sound ecology wise. Here, trees can be collected for disposal and are often given to alpaca farms for them to eat!

You are going to need a much bigger garden!! I love gardening. Didn’t get to have a garden last two years. Health reasons but going to try this year!!

Aw, you took it all down. I'm just not ready yet. Garden already. I drag my heels, lol, probably cause I'm not a great gardener. Must've felt good to get all that accomplished. Btw, I ordered a little something for Matt, I hope you don't mind. When I saw it I thought it was perfect, and he may already have it, tho, couldn't remember. I felt bad since it wasn't anything for you, but I remember I had sent you a gift card a year or 2 ago, so hope that evens out and makes it all good, haha! Hope you have a wonderful week, Ms Tipper, God bless! 😊💖❄️

Tipper, When I saw the snow this morning, I thought about you and how you’ve been wishing for it. This classic Michigan “lake effect” snow, so very light and fluffy when it first falls. Really cold this morning, about 21° when I first got out with the dogs. There’s a storm coming your way in a day or two, so you might get some snow. We’ve only gotten about 4” today, may get more tonight and tomorrow.
