Ken Ham and his team have a weekly "news" show, reacting to the news stories of the day from a Christian young-earth creation perspective from the Answers in Genesis staff at his Creation Museum.
AronRa and I join Georgia, Brian and Jennifer as they discuss Evolutionists propose PhyloCode for naming creatures; Biologists intelligently design experiment to replicate imaginary past and more during Answers News, broadcast live from the Creation Museum.

What I don't get with these guys, is that even when I WAS a "creationist," I could tell that at the very minimum, humans and the other apes shared the same "version 1.0 blueprints," as it were. That's beyond obvious when you compare skeletons. Say, God was playing around with a design, and had done a few trial runs to work the bugs out. I was even able to figure out, without any prodding, and certainly before I started to learn any REAL science (I grew up in a Christian school), that humans could have evolved from other apes if there was enough time. Once I learned of the evidence for deep time, everything clicked, and it became beyond obvious that the 6-day creation "model" was wrong. Because once you HAVE "deep time," the branching tree pattern of evolution is simply what one would expect to occur naturally, whatever or however that original life form appeared.

If someone you're talking to insists that they cannot be lying when they say "I know for a fact", they're not someone worth talking to, and those that they ARE talking to are likely manipulating them.

If they're not lying, but what they're saying is wrong, then they're deceived or deluded. I've been there. I learned the hard way that false "knowledge" _feels_ just like the real thing. I had to learn that what I "knew" was wrong before I figured it out. The folks at AIG and their target audience don't know how to tell the difference.

@@zemorph42 I used to know a guy, a theist, who, when we would discuss various topics, would stop me to ask "Okay, you know that, but do you know it for a fact?" And I'd reply, "What do you mean, do you want me to say 'I know for a fact and the thing I just said?" and it was so strange to me that that's exactly what he wanted! Like his god would stop me from finishing my sentence if I prefaced "I know for a fact" with whatever I was going to say next, if what I was going to say wasn't true.

As a Computer Scientist, I fear you are painting yourself into a corner by overstating the unbiased infallibility of computers. Programs do have biases, sometimes intentional, sometimes unintentional, because they are programmed by humans. A quick example, Google's Machine Learning was trained to classify images, but its training set was provided by humans who labeled them by hand. Pictures of humans in the training set were almost entirely white, leading to other races being misclassified as non-human. So yes, a program is going to apply the same algorithm unwaveringly to the problem, which reduces a great deal of bias... but it doesn't eliminate bias as the algorithms used may themselves be biased. While I do not believe there is a severe flaw or bias in genomic categorization, I think the phrasing of your argument puts you on weaker ground.

Usually when I'm trying to get a Creationist to distinguish *"Kinds"* from each other, I'd start off by showing them what they already accept [1,2], and then ask them based on what they already accept, how do they go about distinguishing what is related from what is not l... and usually with large groups of morphologically similar organisms like Crustaceans or Ferns [3,4,5]. However in true Creationist's style you'll never get them to answer. *References:* 1) *Plant Baraminology (Kinds) and Grafting Compatibility; Call Me Emo, 2020:* m.imgur.com/a/sqRLoPq 2) *Creationists Plant Kinds:* imgur.com/a/uFtRD7W 3) *Order Zingiberales; Call Me Emo, 2020:* imgur.com/a/rFs2tSu 4) *Class Polypodiopsida (Ferns); Call Me Emo, 2020:* m.imgur.com/a/6u7XM62 5) *Subphylum Crustacea (Crustaceans); Call Me Emo, 2020:* m.imgur.com/a/WYq9JPn

Since it's not a current scientific term and is thus up to interpretation, I calculate each person's personal working definition of "kind" with the question "are humans apes?" If "no": their working definition of a "kind" is a Genus, since human species such as homo sapiens, neanderthals, and Aron's hypothetical space colonists are in the homo genus which is separate from what we tend to think of as apes and thus distinct as per the Creationist worldview. If "yes", then a "kind" to them is a Family or higher since humans are classified within the Great Ape family, the hominids, being not evolved _from_ the current Great Apes directly as Evolution is depicted (and usually strawmanned) by YECs, but rather _being_ Great Apes that evolved from the Primate Order ancestors alongside all other Great Apes.

I love the whole nonsense of only life comes from life. Without defining life this is just babbling! And when pressed the only scientific observable response can be biological life. So how then do you believe that life comes from non-biological life (super natural life a non-material being). If creationists would spend two minutes actual thinking they might not look so stupid! If biological life can come from non-biological life why do you arbitrarily think that it can't come from a-bio-genesis matter/energy but can come from non-material invisible beings. There is no justification for such idiotic thinking! And since A-bio-genesis is the only option you can only have 3 concepts to work with (one being a subset of the other): 1) Matter/energy is eternal and has all the properties necessary for life to come into existence, 2a) Something that is non matter/energy is eternal that has all the necessary properties to bring life into existence, and 2b) Something that is non matter/energy is eternal that has all the properties to bring matter/energy into existence which has all the properties to bring life into existence. It's a-bio-genesis all the way down folks. And if it is not a-bio-genesis then the only way in which the proposition "life comes only from life" can be true is if biological life itself was eternal.

Unrelated question (sorry, my mind sometimes wanders). How does your cartoon character simulate random blinking of the eyes? Is there some sort of algorithm or just choosing random time intervals? I'm reminded of an episode of Star Trek The Next Generation where Data unmasks another android by observing a specific pattern in eye blinking. lol

Creationists will tell us what a kind is when flat earthers provide their model.
@soriac2357
@soriac2357 4 жыл бұрын
You mean, when they will give *congruent* definitions of "kind" and a flat earth model. They already give them, but they tend to change over time, there is not only a difference of several "models" of flat earth between flattards, but they even change the model themselves just to fit their nonsense, sometimes even in the same paragraph, to whatever it needs to be at the time. Just like creationists and their "kind" do. It's a joker card, the universal placeholder.

@@d.o.m.494 Yeah, but that's common with all conspiracy nutjobs I've encountered (and yes, I count creationism as another conspiracy craziness, both the "arguments" and the mindsets are the same). It all goes the same "hahaha, look at these crazy conspiracy idiots, how ridiculous they are with their sad excuses they call "proof", how can you every buy into something that weird. But NOT MINE!! MINE IS THE ACTUAL TRUE ONE!!!! I have proof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Every conspiracy is weird except the ones the conspiritard believes in. I call it the "three Jesus experiment". Once, a psychologist put together three people who think they are Jesus. They didn't attack each other, the just sat around. After a while, he talked to each of them and they all said the same: the other guys are ok, but *obviously* crazy and delusional, to think they are Jesus, that's ridiculous, how can the others be Jesus when one himself is the actual Jesus...

The guy in the middle plays the fool but he is actually playing a crucial role: he sets an example of how his followers should react to scientific facts and knowledge (or knowledge and facts in general that don't align with the bible). It's ridiculous to even argue these points...THE BIBLE DOES NOT TEACH THAT THE EARTH IS 6,000 or 10,000 YEARS OLD! It reveals the opposite. The time frame between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2, could be immense...possibly billions of years. There were two floods in the biblical account. The earth was resurfaced when mankind came on the scene, after the first flood of Genesis 1:2. All you have to do is read it.
