Matt, you hit the nail on the head. You show the unorganized (me) how to stay away from getting bogged down - when I first begin! That is always my problem. Great job!!!

Thanks. It doesn’t take much to create a barrier so the key is to make that first step as easy as possible. The right easy step always makes the next step easier. If you’re not able to move through that step quickly with a singular focus,, it’s not easy enough.

So... paper is my Kryptonite! I have a "paper disability", apparently. lol. If I could control the paper monster, it would make my life so much better! There are SO many different systems for the naturally organized; what if you're not? Over the years, I have purchased books, filing systems, and watched many videos on how to sort, file, and store papers, with only limited success when I have attempted to implement these systems... and I have really tried. I'm sure these systems work well for lots of people, but not for the way my brain works with some learning disabilities. It is painful and makes life harder to have piles of paper all over my "office" and never seem to be able to deal with it effectively over time. I recently found your videos and your methods look interesting and different from others I've tried. I hope they can work for me. I liked and subscribed. Thank you.

First time "stumbled upon" - thanks for that. I too was told OHIO is the goal. Yet in-tray by definition means things come in, random order. I too, had instinctively taken to piling related stuff - financials, medical, etc. So handling more than once is inevitable. You're right that scanning is time consuming - scan, assign file name. But once in, searching electronically is great. But *BACK UP* data! Question - would a sheet feeder scanner be more efficient? The flat top type is for photos. I have been hesitating, not even for $$, but because statements and bills tend to be 1 or 2 pages, while sheet feeders work well for multi-page reports (then assign 1 file name). There's also the risk of scans, unsorted and unnamed, piling up in memory stick. But it would cull boxes of older papers!

A sheet feeder scanner is absolutely the way to go if you have a lot of paper to scan. All my organizing colleagues who typically scan recommend the Fujitsu scanner.
