I don't know when everything changed. The in thing now is the day after Christmas to take everything down. I remember years ago when I was younger, Christmas to Epiphany was more celebrated. Friends and family would stop in casually during this time, and everything didn't seem so rushed. Miss those days. Now today, Christmas starts the day after Halloween and Valentine's the day after Christmas.

I'm Christian Orthodox celebrating Christmas on January 7th. The January 7 date is based on the Julian calendar which existed before the Gregorian one. Since my kids married into Christian Catholic families, we all together celebrating both dates and our decorations stays up for more than month and a half. For us is well worth all the time and energy that we spend setting it all up.

It’s our tradition to keep our trees and decorations up until January 7th, the day after Epiphany. The 12 days of Christmas begin on Christmas Day and ends on Epiphany, which is supposed to be the day that the three wise men came to pay homage to the Christ Child. Many in our area also celebrate Russian or Orthodox Christmas on January 6th. I love that Samantha Grace enjoys helping you even at her young age! Great video! It’s so nice to put away the decorations and prepare for the new year. I’m a little concerned about all the comments about when it is appropriate to take down Christmas decor, particularly the comment that suggested that people who take decor down before January 6th are “pretend Christians”. How a person worships Jesus and celebrates his birth is personal and doesn’t require decorations at all.

In Puerto Rico we love Christmas a lot. We start Christmas decorations after Halloween and take down the decoration by January 20 others wait until February 2. When we have the celebration Candlemas, is celebrated on 2 February and marks the return of light, a symbol of protection and prosperity. This Christian festival commemorates the presentation of Jesus at the Temple of Jerusalem, referring to him as the light of the people of Israel. Falling exactly 40 days after Christmas, Candlemas (or the Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary) was observed as the official end of Christmas in medieval England.

Only a suggestion that I wish we could’ve done at my old job, but it seems prudent to glue or permanently attach all the ornaments to the tree and just wrap it in plastic and store it all ready to go. Especially since there’s more than one. Think of it as making those years easier that are too busy to decorate in your future, haha!

your theme for the church decoration was inspiring and so in touch with our current world events. I shared your video with many of my friend. I am never quick to make a comment but I want you to know your videos are a blessing to me. Not just because of all I learn but for you and your family who make the world seem a better place. God bless you this coming year.

I’m also amazed at how independent Benjamin and Samantha Grace are while you are working. They always seem content just playing by themselves! 😊

Do Paul and Bethany make house calls to WI? LOL. When you pointed out the ornament from your Mom, Santa in the hot air balloon, I thought of one of my favorite Christmas books to read with the kiddos in my family child care center. It's called Harvey Slumfenburger's Christmas Present. I think Benjamin would LOVE IT!

It's an old house. Unfortunately, old houses are being overly modernized or torn down because of lack of knowledge about them. People just want a house so they buy one and paint the wood or tear it out for more modern and clean lines. Many of these old houses are very expensive to heat, cool, insure, and maintain so they end up in really bad condition and people want to tear them down... because the don't realize that these houses were made to last and can be saved and restored in almost all cases. Fortunately, the garden answer family appreciates and respects what they have.

We don't "need" a tour of their home. Let them have some privacy.

Good God Laura! Where do you find that much energy? I am so jealous. I love your organization skills (because they remind me of mine 😊) but it would take me days to do all that. ❤much love from my house to yours!

I store my good glass ornaments inside in an extra bedroom closet. I had heard that the extreme heat and cold can discolor the older vintage glass ornaments, so they stay inside where the temperature is more controlled. I need to go through my Christmas ornaments too. So much to do inside before gardening starts.

Yes, I collect vintage Christmas and all my special ornaments stay inside. Heat is really bad for glass ornaments so I have a walk-in closet that holds my Christmas treasures. It’s a sacrifice giving up that closet but a must because I’m addicted to collecting that old stuff❤

Paul and Bethany are the best. Using those tarps are a great idea. Scoop up the mess and throw it away. Your trees are all beautiful.
