shadowflame damage proc is calculated after initial damage so oriana base damage ult should have done the right damage to put him below 40% and then shadowflame proc after the ingame calculation thus doing the crit damage riot coding as always

For early wave clear, actually this skill path is higher wr than Q max. it is only situationnal and against certain melees you could max Q. Orianna Master OTP here

Q Max is worse in lane also if you want to chunk your opponent constantly. If you know you’re going to trade against someone almost every time W max is a MUST do.
