I don't understand why people are so negative about Orianthi. One thing I've seen in the comment section is that she has done 'nothing new'. Oh, I'm sorry, but I didn't know bands like One Direction, and single artists like Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, et al. did completely original, engaging hits! What a suprisee! (sarcasm). Sure, maybe nothing is new, but it is still more unique than the thousand other solo artists out there today. Orianthi is a talented person trying to make her way through a business that has bled dry it's originality. But I will say one thing to wrap me up. This song engaged me more than any Katy Perry, Adele, Nickelback, Bieber, 1D, or any song of that type, and that's what makes me like this vid.

Like M.Schenker once said:''Once you get success as a musician,people will talk shit about you.''.Also the fact that she's a girl in a male dominated genre,let's face it,there are many guys,who feel their wiener will shrink,when they watch a female rock guitarist/bassist/drummer etc. and than start the usual sexist bullshit.You know:''She's only famous because she's a hot chick,blah blah....'' Funny thing is,Orianthi was playing with her dad at local clubs as a teen 4 nights a week.She openend up for Vai at 15 years,an age were most of us dudes,were either playing videogames or with ourselfs.And when she was 19,she wrote,recorded,produced & mixed her debut-album ''Violet Journey'' ,in a small home-studio,that her dad build,on her own.She didn't had the money for session musicians or a producer/sound engineer.Later,when A.Cooper hired her,she had to learn a setlist of 25 songs in 5 days.I would like to see any of these bigmouths,who trashtalk on her or any other pro-musician,do something like this.

***** Exactly dude,nothing is more attractive,than a woman with some actual musical talent,who can play an instrument,no matter if it's guitar,bass,drums or something else.
@felphero10 жыл бұрын
Ok, One Direction and Justin Beiber? So what you're saying to me is that Orianthi's direct competition is not guys like Satriani or Vai, she's not on that level, no, it's people like Justin Beiber. That is a bigger insult than "not making anything new". Orianthi is better than One Direction and all that radio garbage, that's exactly why we expect more from her than we would from Beiber
@Kallitrix10 жыл бұрын
FelpHero You've taken my comment in the wrong context mate. Why I mention artists like them is because both they and Orianthi are current artists. People like Joe Satriani started up in the 70's and 80's and absolutely shredded their guitars, but most of the modern day music tends to be repetitive and bland. Orianthi is a modern day musician, but creates interesting and engaging music, trying different styles, etc. She is a far cry, professionally or skill-wise, in front of JB or OD. Skill-wise and professionally, she is up with the greats in her ability, but is under-appreciated by the industry. Hell, I didn't even know who the hell she was until I played her song in GH: Warriors of Rock and thought, hey, this song sounds awesome, lets find it on KZbin.
@greekfreak198010 жыл бұрын
Kallitrix The problem with her isn't her lack of talent but her lack of a good management/label,who knows how to promote her and her stupid career decisions.Her first label,Geffen,wanted to market her as a teen-pop act,like Avril Lavigne.Her current label,Robo Records,did absolutely nothing to promote her excellent ''Heaven in this Hell '' cd from 2013.They put out 2 of the weakest songs as singles,with 2 ubercheap lyric videos.She couldn't do much promo work,because she was touring with A.Cooper,so nobody heard of this amazing album. If that wasn't bad enough,Orianthi herself,does everything she can,in order to destroy her credibillty & career.This year,she had some time off,from A.Cooper,instead of going on a solo-tour what does she do?She hooked up with R.Sambora and has basically become his latest ''pet''.She also left A.Cooper's band,were she was the leadguitarist,gained many new fans/exposure/credibillity and was a fan-favorite.Not to mention the Coop & her bandmates were very supportive to her(G.Sobel played drums on her album & Alice appeared as a special guest on her solo-gigs.) Since she got involved with this sleazy,drunk has-been,she's wasting her talent as backup musician in his second-rate Bon Jovi coverband.Most of the time,the guy is hammered on stage,butchering their old hits from the 80's,while she plays some chords and occasionally ''Sugardaddy'' let's her play some leads.The rest of the time,she let's him parade her around in the press & celebrity events,like some sort of trophy & she has appeared in tabloids as "the 25 years younger girlfriend of the middle-aged rockstar from the 80's''. If she doesn't get her pretty head straight,her career will be over before we even saw her full potential as a musician.Soon her ''Sugardaddy'' will replace her with a new plaything and she will be left with a career/reputation damaged beyond repair.And for the record,I'm an avid ''Ori-fanboy''. P.S.Sorry for the lenghty rant.

The fact that the guitars are not plugged in means that they filmed this music video after having recorded the song... Which means that they know that 4:06 minutes solo all by heart.. which is extremely impressive, usually when you play solos this long you improvise but these guys have actually written and remembered the whole thing... Impressive

Two of the best ever. They know how to treat acustic and electric guitars really well.

Shades of Nancy Wilson! Those 'blue tips'' catch fire! (No ignoring you Steve)
Steve Vai has made a career out of making his guitar literally "sing" The guy is a guitar God and Orianthi has definitely got some MFing fire inside 💯

Steve Vai is the best rock guitarist in the world . He can do any difficult technique the young players use BUT they ... Cannot touch his panache, feel, and interesting note selection. He has his own style. There is no other player that sounds like him.

Does Steve Vai like always have a fan blowing upwards at his head? Get his hair flowing like that all the time? Or is that just one of his powers? 🤩

OH yeah, until 2:49 we have two fine guitarists who are at parity with each other, then Vai does his Road Runner "explosion of prowess" and goes into light speed, leaving Orianthi in the Wylie Coyote dust.
