Your technical knowledge knows no bounds Cam! Good to see your keeping yourself “hydrated” whilst putting the vid together. 👍

If I could make a suggestion. Do not put the antenna cable through the grill itself. My reasoning is, if you need to pull the grill out on the road to access the radiator you can only sit grill to one side because of the cable. You cannot remove the grill completely out of the road. Does not sound much until you have to work around it.

great review Cam ...I have always been a Uniden fan ...I have two compact models in my Ford Falcons ..and have a 30 year old Uniden UH 077 Sundowner that's never missed a beat that is now a back up unit . I also have a Honda Accord that I bought an Oricom 5 watt for a few years ago . It runs as good as the Unidens . So impressed I bought the twin radio tradie pack handheld 2 watters that came with a bunch of accessories and hard case ..Bit of a UHF junkie I'm afraid and have another bunch of Uniden , Digitech hand helds , three Retevis Dual band UHF/VHF 5 watt handhelds and two Baofeng 5 watt dual band as well ...It's a disease ...too many but it's fun . Looking forward to adding one of the hand piece display Oricoms one day . Oricom is a great Aussie company too . GME is as well and even Uniden have a strong Aussie content base .. lots of great stuff out there ... your new Oricom looks awesome value and a decent bit cheaper than the GME equivalent perhaps ..

You could be better off installing the radio behind the back seat. As the controls are on the handset, you don't need to rob legroom to fit the box. A plastic pen is also good to push through the grommet, with the leads taped to it. Always use a proper crimping tool to crimp terminals, not pliers. Its important to have a good mechanical connection on the lead. P.S. I am a 40 year RAAF trained Avionics tech.

One thing it needs is an magnetic mike mount, once you’ve used then you never want to go back to the old style.

I reckon fella it's a good idea to connect it to a accessory power supply like the radio or ciggy plug. Saves ya turning it off all the time🤘🔥🍻🇦🇺 Love ya work though fella👍

Hi Cam Just a follow up question. Now that you have had the oricom uhf for a while are you still happy with it? There seems to be mixed reveiws about the brand.

Yeah mate love it!

I like the unit however would prefer them to go with a RJ 45 connection for the hand piece, much more flexibility in mounting options.

I am surprised that no observation was made on the long caxial cable which was pulled into the cab. There seems to be some controversy about whether the cable can be shortened (by cutting) or when not shortened , by coiling.

Hi cam we are interested in buying a hand held uhf we watch all your utubes and want to know if the oricrom hand held would be good for us. Basically we are not 4 wheel drivers just need to know what trucks or vehicles want to pass. We love your videos and value your opinion . Thankyou

Hey guys, the Oricom gear is great and I still run one in my new car and a couple of handhelds. My discount code ‘wild’ knocks off 15% from all that gear at; www.oricom.com.au

The only issue with dual receive is the likelihood of your mates having a dual receive system is low.

Good unit the only complaint I have about it the speaker is just not loud enough for me I have it in the truck and with the normal truck noise in the cab it's just not loud enough. And it's in a brand new truck
@adamjones20254 жыл бұрын
First off nice video. But i would stay away from Oricom they are not known to be reliable and i know first hand. GME or ICOM are the best picks for uhf's.

@WildTouring3 жыл бұрын
You can normally pick up an Oricom UHF390 pack with an antenna included in the bundle for less than $300. Whatever you get, try to grab one with controls and speaker on the mic. So much handier!
