To start out our second semester for Virtual Art and in-classroom art, Haines students will be doing a small origami unit, starting with paper cranes. The folding of paper cranes, while originating from Japanese culture, has become a cross-cultural symbol of hope, protection, longevity and healing. As our community and school mourns the loss of our beloved Kindergarten teacher Jenae Larson, the students will fold cranes to hang around the elementary wing and in the Kindergarten classroom.
If you wish to fold cranes that will become a part of the installation, you can email me, Giselle Miller, at gmiller@hbsd.net.
