Davis just kills me every time; he's like a master samurai with that brush. Archie Goodwin and Angelo Torres were inspired by this story to do the origin of Uncle Creepy in "Monster Rally" in Creepy #4.

Jack davis drew a series of sporting moments in slow mo for mad magazine. His boxing sketches are some of the most insane and funniest drawings of human anotomy lve ever seen.Makes me laugh just thinking about it.He is without a doubt one ofbthe greatest comic book artists of all time. Thanks Jack

I have a big stack of those Gladstone reprints that I got via mail order in the late 90s. I ordered some Dick Tracy comics from them too. Now I can't remember how I found out about them. An ad in Wizard, maybe?

Forget presidential politics and the state of the world, the origins of the Crypt Keeper...now that's important.

The purpose of the text is to simulate the narration style of old radio shors like Witches Tale, or Lights Out. I also saw my 1st EC jack davis at age 8...in the MAD 50s paperback reprints. 1973, represent...kaf kaf kaf.

16:45 the hat looking furry: I believe they used to be made out of like... Beaver skin/fur?? I remember seeing something about that kind of thing because I had always thought they were like silk or satin, or maybe felt (many of them were actually made from these materials) but the beaver hide ones would have to be brushed in order to make them shine and to lay the individual hairs of the fur down neatly; If his hat is looking furry, then I don't think he's been brushing his beaver out very well lately 😆

I’m not quite sure why it took me so long to realize this, but the entire career of Rick Altergott basically comes from EC comics, and maybe even specifically from this issue! Great job dudes, keep ‘em coming!

This story was adapted in the TV show. Not as good as the comic one though.
