Scott I got a feeling the Snake Lair is never gonna get funded. Bcos it looks nothing like what u and Axel designed. They used Axel's concept art to promote it but gave us something totally different at SDCC. Which was horrible and so un-MOTU-esque. Looks more like something made by Imaginext.

It doesn't look like an Imaginext set. That's such an entitled salty A Z Z I'm a f%#$^ing snob thing to say. Is it not the concept image sure but calling it a toddlers playset is such a stretch. Whiny ass babies cried and now we won't get a huge glorious playset that again fans have been whining for. Instead we will get a display shell with no features no vehicle and chances are it's still not going to be something you babies want. Thanks a lot.

Personally I didn't vote for this but I don't fault the people that did. It was something new which represents longevity and faith in the brand to continue, it was from classics which draws in a somewhat untapped market, and it had a massive media push behind it. There was no way this wasn't winning the vote during "the year of the snake men" three days before the base commander Lady Slither went up for sale on mattel creations. I voted for fright zone and attack trak because the inclusion of fright zone on the vote spoke loudly to me that Mattels promise to finish the vintage line only extends to the figures and not the vehicles and remaining two playsets. I voted for attack trak because the vote specifically said it wanted the next big ticket item and that expectation meant if attack trak won it would theoretically include everything fans could want in the toy. It could be motorized and could possibly have lights and sounds. Mattel missing the release of the tiers and official price and not announcing if the project will still kick off next week is a little disturbing. It makes me curious what the responses of the survey were to shake their confidence that much.

Due to a few factors, I won't get this. First and foremost, the pricepoint. 300 is too much for someone who lives in Sweden. Because you need to add shipping and import to that. Other one is that it does (As pointed out by Scott and MOTU-fans alike) not look like it was advertised. The way I interpret it, is that the original design, the Snake lair would be a bit smaller, like Castle Grayskull size, so tehy could not charge so much for it. Instead they decided to make it bigger, so they could justify a 300 USD price point. But that is just my two cents. What is your opinion Scott?

I appreciate the background on that. Very enlightening and gives some weight to validating its existence at some point. Not sure it will happen in its current form though, because ultimately its just too freaking big. Eternia was considered to be the ultimate grail in that department and I don't think you challenge that with something that was never made, thus there is no childhood nostalgia to drive it. If it were more along the lines of the smaller playsets, it would get funded easily. But who has room for this and Eternia? I sure don't, even if I liked the design.

A wave of alleged "fans" falsely claim that Netflix and Kevin Smith used a devious tactic to market Revelation, parroting one another with overly dramatic cries of "bait and switch". Fast forward a few years, where fans are soooo put out that Mattel made a fortress for the Snake Men, and once again rally with the aforementioned "bait and switch", assigning intent yet again. Truly a comedy of illegitimate actors!

You just made a mistake, because English is a stupid language rife with pitfalls. It’s a cool looking playset but the price tag, ouch! I think if they had done it the way you help design it would be more affordable. Plus I always thought the wall playset would’ve been cool if we had gotten it back in the day. Glad Vypor & Reptilax got figs. And I think Necro Conda is cool too. I don't believe the Snake Lair will get funded. It is to much of a departure from the artwork in the mini-comics and even from the Origin's packaging.

They should focus on the Turtles of Grayskull line and do what works, combine a sewer layer with Grayskull or Snake Mountain. Snake men always mean the end of the line but Origins keeps going, now with the Turtles!

@MysticGargoyle Eternia imo looks like crap and people backed that off of Nostalgia. The only reason I bought one was because I got it Sealed second hand for $500.. The only reason this is getting hate is because there's no Nostalgia for it and that it doesn't resemble the artwork they've been showing or the concept design we voted on. Otherwise it's everything fans want out of a playset feature wise. The crazy part is that vintage collectors want a shell to display NOT an actual playset that can be tinkered with. Why not just print out a backdrop for your figures than? I don't see that costing more than $50 bucks 🤣

@@ggary04 Add $150-200 in shipping for us outside of the US, we are then talking about $450-500. That is expensive and not something that many are prepare to pay so shortly after the Eternia playset. Mattel has made it huge because they saw success the last time. The problem is that this brings zero nostalgia to the mix, in addition to have a terrible design and color scheme. It looks cheap and something that would appeal to 5-6 year old kids that plays with Fisher Price. The Snake Lair was intended to have a compact design that matched Grayskull and Snake Mountain, but the designers went overboard and created this disaster instead. If they had stuck to picture in the poll and backside of the action figures, in addition to $100-150 price, then this would have been a massive success. Hopefully by the response most of us has given, it seems like this playset won't be successfully funded!

@@MysticGargoylewhy do you who are outside the US always bring up the shipping cost? Mattel has nothing to do with that part of it. Blame that on your country. The toy is 300 plain and simple. If shipping is what has you all up in a bunch then maybe you don’t need to buying toys at all. Or move to the US. I always factor in shipping and taxes into my expenses.
