from my understanding also ajunta paul and some of his followers at least were a case of those who weren't natural villains but were forced and twisted into becoming a villain due to the witch hunts of the jedi to target those who didn't follow their very narrow view of their interpretation of the lightside being the only good force while all others are darkside and thus evil. given i recall reading before they were forced into that conflict many were healers and medical researchers with stuff like their version of alchemy being originally used for that before they ended up weaponizing it to fight back against the jedi hunting them. also most of the others least that im aware of all tended to be all exceptionally good at healing techniques which is least some evidence that might be the case.
