the way I understand it is that hollow with the whistle sacrificed themselves to create the whistle like we learned you need to do

If I remember the Manga right, they found the hollow in there with the whistle in his hands. Which implied that it is the whistle of the hollow and the hollow could somehow activate the elevator. Wasn't totally clear, how it works.

@@Rafaela_S. Yes, what likely happened, is that there were 2 (or more people) who wanted to go down. One of them sacrificed themselves and transformed into the whistle. The owner of the whistle then went down, and at one point tried going up again (perhaps by accident), turning into a hollow in the process. We've seen that you don't necessarily have to blow the whistle to use it. Rubbing or tapping it, seems to be enough. Riko's whistle is still only a stone at this point.

Love where all of your thoughts are going, keep speculating! This season is going to be a wild ride. I will say that everyone in the Ganja squad is an adult, that doesn't mean they did not experience childhood trauma, but all of the actions you see on screen take place while they were adults. That doesn't make it any less horrible, but at least there are some lines the mangaka did not cross.

Abyss Lore - no spoilers The author Tsukushi said the star compass is going to be a huge deal. I just found this out last night, but if you look at the compass, the internal piece looks like the shape of the abyss. It flares out for the 5th layer which is the widest. Vueko traded the compass to the tribal geezer who said it's a 'form of essential part'. Bondrewd said something similar towards Reg's incinerator, light of essential something returns to cardinal point. One of the WW secrets Ozen told us before sending Riko & Reg off was a mysterious ring of light seen in the 7th layer. The compass also has a weird ring around it. The star compass also looks slightly different when Vueko has it compared to Riko. The bottom is anchor shaped with Riko, more cone shaped with Vueko. We see Ganja squad descend the abyss much more quickly, like there were layers missing. At 7:57 they walk through a stone gateway into pre-orth, and it looks exactly like the gateway partway down layer 1, that we see Reg & Nat pass under when returning around ep 3, when nat pukes. There's a watch person in the balcony then too. So the abyss is sinking.
@golden--hand7 ай бұрын
I'd still consider some of this kind of spoilers. Some people like to try and figure some of this stuff out themselves, so this goes beyond just informational lore. Anyway, regarding the last part. That doesn't entirely make sense. If the gate way to the netherworld is the same from the ones we see season 1, which seems likely, then there wouldn't be whole layers missing... considering that's not even that far. If you are using the Gateway as your measuring stick that's probably not even 1000 meters that would have been added between the two times, so the ganja would have still gone through about as much as now. If I'm interpenetrating your point right.

Regarding the Child Abuse subject matter: Something I noticed from S1 and the movie is the idea that the figures of authority (or more specifically the guardianship figures) frequently and repeatedly fail in their charge to protect those that they are SUPPOSED to protect. It's a really tragic theme for so many obvious reasons - but it's extremely consistent. However, despite the abuse, the children that get betrayed and abused continue to venture forth and find meaning and connection with those around them. I'm not saying there's something profound with that idea, but I just found it interesting. The show definitely doesn't portray the abuse in an enlightened sense. Like it doesn't say "You are stronger because of the hardships you've endured" - some characters ARE, but that doesn't feel like the story that's being told. It's just a story about people seeking a place where they belong - and it's really ironic because the Abyss beckons all these people, and they are all so desperate to get there, and yet none of them have any idea what's there or what's waiting for them. It's just a story about people trying to find a place that they belong.

It’s crazy how Bondrewd legitimately won in pretty much every regard lol. He can continue his research, the zoaholic isn’t destroyed, and he can see whatever nanachi sees in the abyss. His only loss is the blessed body, which he in theory can get again with time.
@golden--hand7 ай бұрын
I'm not sure he has the desire to anymore honestly. He is usually pretty genuine about the things he says. When he said to Nanachi his new aspirations are to see them continue their journey, and what he said to Riko about her desires exceeding even his own. I believe one of his driving goals for pursuing the depths was so that SOMEONE within the population of humanity could go with the intentions of solving the mysteries below, and I don't think he cares who that is. He was working knowing that if HE went he could trust for sure someone was doing that, but I think he can see in Riko a drive to understand and appreciate this place even beyond then his own so is happy to watch them do it instead. Like, I think he essentially saw their meeting as a passing the torch moment, allowing the next generation to do what he couldn't in ways better then his own. I'm not sure I articulated my thoughts on the mater well, but something like that anyway.
@nnightkingj7 ай бұрын
@@golden--hand yes he desired to see them n in their journey but I genuinely think that was the case even before he lost. He said he was under the impression they came to create a white whistle and to help them do that he had Prushka get close to Riko. That’s why he talked to Prushka about her and had her greet her instead of himself. He knows they have to fully want to become a whistle for the person so he set it o up so that both he and Riko could get what they wanted/needed. Bondrewds experiments are also for the betterment of mankind which is partially why he’s allowed to do the heinous things he does. I’m saying what you’re saying is wrong but part of why he wants a blessed body is so that he can freely go to and from the 6th layer without losing his mind. Sure Riko could possibly be the one to solve the mysteries below but how could she use bring that information up above if she’s trapped? Even though technically bondrewd did go to and from the sixth layer he has different means of doing so that is less than humane.
@golden--hand7 ай бұрын
@@nnightkingj I have a pretty long counterargument. So, sorry for the length. I'm not trying to say you are flat out wrong either, but rather I really like thinking about Bondrewd, his motives and actions, as well as future 'bad guys' in this show. So, politely, I see things differently than you have indicated and would like to share my thoughts to compare. I have tried to respond to all your core thoughts with the evidence that comes to mind. I have additional thoughts that I have left out to prevent this from being a straight-up book, though haha. Thinking about this gave me some new incites as I hadn't thought of him from this specific perspective before, so thanks for stimulating my thoughts regardless. ----- I actually don't think that's why he had Prushka get close to them. I believe he originally thought their plan was for either Riko to become a whistle for Nanachi or the reverse. But seeing they didn't plan for or understand what to do, his goals shifted to simply trying to take the interesting relic (Reg) and persuade his assistant (Nanachi) to return, and Prushka was just meant to disarm them by being her typical friendly self. And I think she greeted Riko and the gang of her own accord because she was curious about them, not because she was instructed to greet them. That just seems like her personality to do. When he told Prushka that Riko and the gang were going to help him, he was still under the impression that they already had a plan for a white whistle, so the thought of Prushka becoming one wouldn't make sense yet. I think he simply thinks all white whistles who descend deeper are helping him, because they all tend to try and send new information back up; hes almost for sure the first one who gets access to that information. So, like it or not, anyone who descends below is likely helping aid his research. And with his ability to see Nanachi's vision, it would have been an even better asset to send below for him to observe. As smart as the guy is, I don't think he had this situation in the movie all planned out from the start. I think his plan was updated as events progressed. I'm willing to provide more evidence I think I see to confirm this idea if you or anyone else is interested in my theories and how I am reading the situations. But I'll just indicate that I don't think he KNEW Prushka was going to be a white whistle until that moment he was getting shot; when we get that voice over from Prushka wishing he would get along with them because she was going on their adventures. Only in that moment do I think he knew that was happening (or had happened I guess since the whistle was with her 'body' and she was sort of speaking with him via her soul or something), and only then did he think they had everything they needed to actually proceed and succeed. In my interpretation. I can't say for certain what exactly Bondrewd believes about the depths of the Abyss. But it's possible he doesn't think resurfacing with the 'final piece' to solve the mysteries is required. He's aware of this 2000-year cycle, and he's under the impression that something cataclysmic of sorts will happen if that cycle ends again. I kind of think he feels like there is some puzzle to solve that maybe breaks the cycle or something. Like, it's always going to be something of a sacrificial mission for the one who solves it. That's all speculation, though, because we don't really know exactly what he knows. But what we can determine is that all of what he has done is try and progress humanities ability to make baby steps deeper more safely. So the blessing is just a new baby step, not the necessity for the final hurdle perhaps. The return may only be important if you don't think you can make it all the way down. Riko left, never meaning to return; Bondrewd never risked it, which is why he thinks she has what it takes to do what he couldn't solve yet. And why I think he might be putting his faith in her to finish what needs to be done below. She simply just has the drive he doesn't. As a side note, light SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2 RELATED STUFF BELOW! I have a theory about his time in the village. I believe he was curious about its ability to replicate things, even things as rare as Mitty. My theory of his reasons for being there and the experiment he had done to make that copy was to see if it was possible to replicate someone to use as a cartage over and over. Because I think he was trying to find a solution that was, in a sense, more humane by just repeatedly killing one person instead of countless individuals. But he gave up and lost interest in the village after determining there was no way to remove these copies from that place, making these copies, and the location, useless for his end goals. Which would explain why he left no presence there as a new forefront like Ido Front is.

Don't quote me on this, because I can't remember where it was said, but I think the time dilation is almost 1 to 10 at the sixth layer, so the Ganja squad went down some 1900 years before current surface time, but less than 200 years have passed in the sixth layer. RIP Bondrewd's fursona, he died doing what he loved: exploring the mysteries of the Abyss, and touching a child inappropriately.
