My brother and I got the Snake vs Mongoose drag set for Christmas in 1970 (?). In my stocking I also got the Jack Rabbit Special - fastest car we had! We must have raced those cars (along with the Red Baron, the Ford Mk IV, Chevy Nomad, Twinmill, and Splittin' Image) a million times until they got stepped on, too full of dirt (lots of backyard play too!), or just generally destroyed. Too much fun!

I didn't ignore the bullet points. I paused and said that you can read them. As for Power Bulges, I have no idea what that is. I would guess that some cars are customized with wider fenders and flares. I talked about the bent-axle suspension (torsion bar) or at least I said to refer to my Inside Story: Hot Wheels Redlines presentation. It mentioned Spectraflame. That actually didn't apply to this release. Besides, the focus of my video wasn't exactly the details. It was that these are toys.

Just found this video! Glad I did! It’s only fitting because I just bought my second jack Rabbit this past week. Now I have both white and black interiors. Can’t wait to see them on the track. Thanks. Oh yeah I’ll look up the Red Line videos soon.

For Power Tower or the boosters, I will look for another Jack Rabbit Special that has a little play-wear to test it in the boosters and Wall Tracks. This one will be saved for gravity races but not the Elimination Race. I don't want it thrown off of the track, bouncing around on the table...

I'm not sure but not all redlines had suspension. Redlines mainly went from '68-'73 but there was some gas station promo or something that used some old redlines but they didn't get released until '78 or so.

the Jack Rabbit Special was made because it came from the Saturday morning Hot Wheels cartoon show, there were two cars from that cartoon , the Jack Rabbit and Dexters demon a red demon it was on the back of the blister pack it was the first car far left row.

The title of the video gave me the impression that the main focus of the video was the packaging, That was my error. I have seen the videos you mentioned and while the suspension in the cars are the same it appears the base had differences in design. there did not appear to be holes or slots in this one. I have no doubt that these toys will work as designed but for me the most fascinating thing is the history behind the design. Thanks for the response.

The USA price under $1 for 40 years...thats worth a video as a lone subject. I can't think of another product which has had this sort of price hold down. Maybe it's called micro inflation or a real insight into cheap overseas labor. I Luv the old stuff, American Pickers would love to pick your collection

@@QuantumRift Agreed. Even when my mentor was working at Mattel in '69, they were already getting the cars made in Hong Kong. It would be interesting to compare Mattel's 1968 vs 2020 average profit margins on each car, taking into account inflation and the new less labor-intensive manufacturing processes~ While I do love the diecast hobby, I hate feeling like it contributes to poor socio-economic systems...

Fun fact: This car is actually part if the Highway 35 timeline. The car is driven by Jack "Rabbit" Wheeler. Jack isn't really the father of Vert but hes the grandfather. Vert's father is Jack Jr. Wheeler which makes Jack Wheeler the father of Jack Jr. Wheeler. And hes in this show called Hot Wheels.

Hot Wheesl + Despite what many know-it-all collectors will tell you, HW did re-release the Jack Rabbit Special in 2000 and again in 2014, so the odds of you finding one still in a blister pack has greatly improved. I picked up a couple of each when I saw them, just because I like the model so much.

Race, This is one time I really wanted to see the back of the card, the upper quarter identified features that are no longer present in modern day hot wheels cars. You ignored the diagrams showing the features & the bullet points. Maybe you can explain what "power bulges are? or when did Mattel drop such features as spectra flame paint & customized engines? The last Hot wheels car I know of to have opening features was the Mustang treasure hunt 1/12 of 2010, it had head & tail light tampos.

anybody else think it would be really cool to see the Jack "Rabbit" Special in Hot Wheels Unleashed 2?
@SRGIProductions10 ай бұрын
I say this because I feel that newer Hot Wheels games tend to forget their origins in favor of over the top presentation. I get that you can't always live in the past, but it's not wrong to acknowledge it either. Having some more Redline era Hot Wheels in the game would be pretty sweet, and it would give Mattel an excuse to license out obscure castings for Milestone to put in the game. Castings that haven't been seen in over 40 years, like Torero, Turbofire, Tri-Baby, Swingin' Wing, and Six Shooter, among many others.

I can answer your "Redline" questions. Or at least give you my take on them. I collect Redlines and have been since they came out in 1968. I still have all of my "kid" cars and have been plugged in to the hobby religiously since 1992. I wasn't actively collecting between 1971 and 1992. to answer the "Spectraflame" question....1973 saw the discontinuation of Spectraflame paint and the introduction of Enamel paint. so, Redlines from 1968 - 1972 had the Spectraflame. The gentleman with his Dads' Van.......it all depends on the condition and whether or not it has any rarities. Is it "Blue" with flames? Black with flames? etc, etc. My handle is "Redliner" on Ebay.
