@@DuneRunnerEnterprises No, what show were you watching? Phipps was the original owner of the shop that Richard started Gas Monkey in and made occasional appearances on the show as well Richard bought the garage from him, Thomas Weeks was the boss, all of the shows are just that shows with next to no reality, it's all about branding, what does Gas Monkey stand for, absolutely nothing it's just a name.

Oh man, that brings back memories. Had a '79 K5 Cheyenne back in the mid 90s. I did throw a 454 with a TH400 into it, this was so much fun. I still miss it. But with the actual gas prices here in Germany I would be immediately broken.

I am really surprised they do not touch up the paint chips and cut/buff the factory paint. I would even go as far as restoring the top to white. It would bring that much more.

1980-1991 Blazers came in two trims: the Custom Deluxe trim, which became the base model trim for C10s starting in 1975 (the first year of the Blazer), or Silverado trim, which became the highest level trim available in C10s starting in 1975. The 1975-1979 Blazers were built in either Custom Deluxe or Cheyenne trims only and 1980 was the first year the Blazer was sold with the Silverado trim despite it being available in C10 pickups for several years already. Sounds crazy, but I got all this info from the GM Heritage website using dealer ‘vehicle information kit’ photocopies, so it’s all accurate info. Here’s something more that’s cool: 1980 Blazers could be ordered with either white or black painted tops from the factory with the ordering code Z59, so that black painted shell on your Blazer might be factory/original. And one more thing, this Blazer is particularly rare not only because it’s a 4x4, but also because it’s the first year of the Silverado Blazer and the final year of the non-tapered front end. 1981-1991 Blazers all had the new tapered front end designed to make the truck more aerodynamic and 1975-1979 Blazers only came in Custom Deluxe or Cheyenne trim. The 1980 Blazer is special in that it had the older style front end from ‘73-‘79 trucks and the Silverado trim that would have otherwise only been available in the ‘81-‘91 tapered front end trucks. Literally a one year only truck and double so because of the 1980 only grille. Sick truck despite it looking a little rough initially.

Ya but what does it all mean 🤔
@geehadspeaks2 жыл бұрын
@@rickeya5481 1973-74 C10: Custom (lowest trim package), Custom Deluxe (lower, mid trim) , Scottsdale (higher, mid trim), Cheyenne (highest trim). 1975 and up C10: Custom Deluxe (new lowest trim), Scottsdale ( new lower mid trim), Cheyenne (new higher mid trim), Silverado (new highest trim). 1975-1979 Blazers: Custom Deluxe (base trim package), Cheyenne (second highest trim package now that Silverado was available, but highest trim package available in Blazers). 1980 and up Blazers: Custom Deluxe (base level trim), Silverado (highest level trim).
@geehadspeaks2 жыл бұрын
@@rickeya5481 Custom Deluxes (and Customs in 73-74) came with painted bumpers/wheels. That’s why the yellow C10 the millennials bought has white painted bumpers; it’s a Custom Deluxe base model. Anything in a higher trim came with chromed bumpers from the factory and varying levels of added sound deadening, insulation, special upholstery, special interior panels, head liners, power windows, locks, etc. It all means jack shit after 40 or 50 years since the sound deadening and insulation type stuff will be old/worn out and so will the interiors a lot of the time, but they were all higher cost options from the factory ($200-400 extra). The Silverado and Cheyenne did have special badging and those plastic moldings on the back side of the cab that made them distinct, so there is that, but there isn’t all that much difference between the trim packages past the base Custom/Custom Deluxe models. For example, Silverados had extra insulation and power windows/locks that the Cheyenne and Scottsdale trims did not. And the Cheyenne had extra insulation on the hood and cab area that the Scottsdale did not. And even the Scottsdale had insulation, a dome light, cigarette lighter and other trim options that the base Custom Deluxe didn’t come with, but after 40 or so years, you’re still coming out with the same basic truck regardless of whether it’s a Scottsdale, Cheyenne or a Silverado in my opinion unless the truck we’re talking about is showroom quality. That’s why it’s so hard to even tell what a Scottsdale, or a Cheyenne/Silverado is anyway. It’s basically just levels of sound deadening and insulation and random trim around the exterior/interior of the truck.
