@@Prusa3D When is the launch for this product? I deal mostly with Polycarbonate and some nylon, so in advance of my XL I have made an enclosure (hoping it fits properly). But I did make that only as a stop gap until the Prusa enclosure was launched. I really love my MK4 Prusa enclosure compared to the enclosures I used to build my MK3S+ farm with. They are ok (printed solid), but the MK4 enclosure is really well designed and modular. Was hoping for the same kind of results for the XL.

@Hangs4Fun7 ай бұрын
@@snajperpl1111 My guess is 60*C will be max interior heat. I run heated enclosures in my MK3S+ farm, but reprinted ALL parts in PC and PC-CF. Problem once you do that isn't the parts any more, it's the micro controller, sheathing on wires, and other components you have to consider upgrading if you push it too much above 60. But just to stay in the 50-60 range, you will want to consider reprinting all of the printer parts in at the very least PETG (or an annealed PETG maybe even with CF; if you can't use PC or PC-CF). I went PC mainly because that is mostly what I print in my farm and I'm very comfy using it. And short of going to Ultem, PEI, PEEK, etc; the temp rating of an annealed PC-CF is higher than you will likely take the enclosure by a good margin

With how well my Prusa Mini has served me and how reliable the MK4s and old MK3[whatever]s at the Makerspace of my Uni are, picking up a Prusa XL is on my wishlist for when I'm in the financial position to buy one. The focus on open and locally running firmware and quality linear hardware are what makes these machines interesting to me, I can expect it to last and work whenever I need it. And some of the engineering, especially around the extruder are incredible and based on my experience of having built a DIY Hypercube a few years ago also seem sensible. Loving the sneaky comparison in colour changes, while in single material this might not be as favourable, the points above more than make up for that.

HONEST Review. This makes my #3rd PRUSA Printer purchase in 5 years. After waiting since Nov 21, 2021.. I finally received my August 22, 2024 full factory assembled Prusa XL 5 Tool head printer yesterday. I carefully took my time to properly follow all instructions to assemble and set up my printer to make sure the assembly was executed perfectly. All tests and All calibrations passed and were successfully completed the very 1st attempt. All showed green check marks and heated properly for all 5 heads. All filaments we’re also loaded 1st try to all 5 heads and extruded PLA in all five heads successfully the first attempt. My first test print was also perfect and flawless. I could not have been happier, and I was glad I took the extra time to make sure it was perfect. My second attempt was to print the PLA, PLA, Flex wrist CT scan model that comes on the flash drive with the printer, but my # 2 head suddenly gave an error message on the screen and the printer shut off and rebooted. The same error message appeared after booting that the thermistor or heat resistor wire has a problem and may be damaged? How, This was just a few minutes after all 5 heads had just heated and passed calibration tests and extruded PLA seamlessly. How is this possible? Nothing touched the printer. I stayed up trying to troubleshoot last night for two hours and spent another hour and a half this morning and an hour just now with support agents attempting to figure out how this went from functioning perfect and passing test to failing without the printer ever being touched, to an error? I spoke with 2 Prusa customer support agents who are unable to understand how to help me and make this right. This is very frustrating after 5 hours of careful assembly, I've lost 4-5 more hours trouble shooting the defective #2 Nextruder after it had just heated up and passed calibration. I asked PRUSA for help and support and tried to explain as friendly as possible that I can't waste any more time on this. I sent pictures and asked to please help me and make this right so I don't lose any more of my time on my brand new $5000 printer. Prusa's solution WAS NOT to overnight me 1 fully assembled Nextruder Replacement with a little store credit or to include a couple extra boxes of filament for the troubles I've had and loss of time on a brand new factory assembled unit, but instead they asked me to carry the burden and do all the work to spend another 2-3 hours 60 steps, disassembling the defective Nextruder, along with another perfectly working Nextruder and swap parts and reassemble to narrow down which part component is defective. And if that does not work, they want me to move on the dissembling both Nextruders again and swapping the next parts to check which adds another 2-3 hours. Keep in mind, I paid $500 extra for FULL factory assembled unit so I did not have to deal with issues or worry about each individual part or waste time making it look as clean as they can from the factory. I don't want to have the burden of not routing all wires and tucking lines back as perfect as they did because I am not as good as they are. Plus I'd have to recalibrate everything again afterwards. I'm a loyal Prusa customer for over 5 years, buy their Prusament filamnet regularly and have convinced my friends and others to purchase Prusa. Is their support satisfactory ? I feel this is not right and unacceptable. Am I off here to expect Prusa to replace the defective Nextruder with a new fully assembled unit like I originally paid for? It's business. I have to support my customers this way in my business, or I'll lose customers to my competitors who also offer this type of support. I'll remove this review once PRUSA steps up to the plate and takes ownership to make this right. Does this seem fair to deal with on a brand-new factory assembled unit or should PRUSA do the right thing here?

A load cell would not yield reliable results with a cantilevered X axis. The Mini is plenty stable with 10mm linear rods on Z, but load cells rely on completely rigid frames. An inductive probe, while not perfect, will still yield a more accurate bed mesh as no actual contact is made between the nozzle and the bed during calibration.

The MINI is awesome as it is. Never had a single leveling issue in 4 years, except when I forgot to swap the sheets on the menu. We designed the XL so that the 2 tool version doesn't need those. As a result, there is a non-linear price jump between 2 and 3 tools, with smaller jumps to 4 and 5, hence why we decided to select these 3 main configurations.

Im not about to walk you though the parts list of a prusa and where they get their components. Do that yourself. It's all public information. Everyone knows bambu printers are built using lower quality components that are prone to failure. This is common knowledge and well known. They entire reason why the prusa XL was delayed up to like a year was becasue prusa was getting a reliable vender for high quality rails/bearing in place. Meanwhile bambu lab uses the cheapest CF rods that need cleaning every 10hrs or else they get gummed up and cause errors. Bambu lab is getting their ass beat by even creality and qidi tech right now. Bambu lab has lowered the price of their printers like 3 times now in just the last year because they're losing out to the competition. Two huge reasons I can't get this printer. A. The cost, it's way too expensive in a market filled with options. B. The size this thing is XXL. You need a dedicated bench for this monster. The MK4 needs to get scrapped and the MK4.1 or whatever needs to be blended with the XL to make it more competitive with the X1 and others. The MK4 is sadly way behind the curve today. If the MK4 was more like the XL just smaller I would've bought it already.

Single Prusa Pro AFS when? 😫

Honestly, I wasn't every really impressed by Prusa machines as I've always built my own or heavily modified ones that i thought already had a good base to build off of.. But the recent changes and improvements to the Original XL are impressive, even compared to custom and highly tuned machines. Only wish is a system that swaps out nozzles instead of the whole tool head, just feels like like if it was a car it would be like giving each gear it's own single speed transmission housing. Still IMO far better than other multi-material printers and if i had the spare cash i wouldn't be typing this right now and just enjoying the machine lol

Love my mk3 and mk 4 but $4k is really f'ing steep for an XL when fully assembled Voron 2.4 clones are coming out nearly ready to run from the box for less than 4 digits. Hard to justify especially when only ever using 1 nozzle.
@Prusa3D7 ай бұрын
If you mostly print with just 1 nozzle, go for the $1999 XL (1 tool) configuration. You can always upgrade to more tools later on, it's pretty quick and easy. :)

I know some prusa fanboy will try and defend it, but for the price that little screen with the 3d printed scroll knob where you have to scroll through menu items looks like someone trying to text on an old flip phone
@Prusa3D7 ай бұрын
We sometimes hear this feedback, but our users vote overwhelmingly in favor of the physical knob. You can use the touchscreen, but the physical knob is often a faster way to navigate the menus. It also enables visually impaired to use our printers more easily, which is quite important for us.
@paulhuckaby7 ай бұрын
@@Prusa3D what about the little screen part? If enabling your visually impaired customers is important to you, then I think we can all agree a bigger screen would be a great way to do that - probably much more then a knob.

@AndreasMeyer-lj9ht7 ай бұрын
I must admit I have seen all the videos of the Prusa XL and this just hits the same points. No I am not complaining and am seriously thinking of buying one. However this 3d printer is still like a race car using a fifty year old control system. Things that Prusa really needs to add. 1. an enclosure so that this incredible machine can reach it's full potential. (yes I know one has been in the works but so far nothing on the web site) The enclosure should come standard with the machine. 2. the ability for each printing head to use a different sized nozzle. Yes I mean one .2 head for fine details two .4 for general items one .6 for support one .8 for faster layers. This should also be for stainless steel nozzles and regular nozzles and possibly future types of nozzles. What about carbide. 3 allow this printer to use a version of the mmu3 allowing even more filament choices. Maybe come up with a version that's smaller so it's more compact. This printer already takes up a large space. 4 allow for higher temperatures. Think about using copper filament to print actual circuits as part of the printing process. (yes I know you can already get copper filament)Think of that part that you make thousands of but can't tell if it's starting to fail. A little copper in the print along with an external testing device and suddenly you can tell when the part will fail. Just to be clear I don't ever expect a 3D printer to print micro chips. That's in a whole different realm. A simple copper circuit could mean you can add a light to your printed model. Maybe the next go to robot starts out as a 3D printed model with simple circuitry. 5 standard interior light 6 vent system for those smelly and harmful vapours (ABS anybody) 7 camera as standard This printer has so much potential it's scary. The only problem is will Prusa step up and give it the tools it needs to really shine. If and that's a big If that happens then it will be up to the rest of us to use our minds and come up with ways to use this 3D Printer.
