"Seems the rest of the competition saw how 'VORON' was performing" ... as Bambu Lab did when they "got inspired" by them, Klipper, CoreXY and Input Shaping. "Competition breeds innovation" ... yepp, especially in repairability and open source firmware unlike Bambu uses. I like that Prusa and Sovol keep on going and brands like Anycybic offer a really good price/ performance.

Thank you for sharing your Formnext experience. One trend that I am seeing is that the consumer level 3D printing industry is finally putting some effort into making printers that can handle stronger, more heat-resistant 'engineering' type materials. In particular, I am especially gratified that we are seeing more printers with heated, temperature controlled enclosures. I am also impressed with the new stronger materials that some of the filament manufacturers are coming up with. I think that consumer level 3D printing is taking some big steps into giving people the ability to print parts that are stronger and more heat resitant, rather than items that are purely decorative.

Truly surprised that the Filament2 tube with paste filament wasn't featured. Honestly this is the most exciting thing I saw. Finally consumer based printers will be able to print silicon and epoxy prints. This will truly be able to unlock a standard 3d printers capabilities with very little modification (new nozzle)

For the record Bambu now has TPU-HF for the AMS/AMS Lite so you can do multi-color TPU right now with that. The color selection is somewhat limited but my first few prints on an A1 using the default filament preset came out near-perfect. I even left it out for a day on the AMS lite and printed again with very little stringing and otherwise zero issues.

I really hope Sovol catches on to the developments of VORON and PRUSA! 15:30 I bought a Flashforge Creator Pro 2 ( 2 independent extruders). I got it for $180, "unrepaired return". I did have to do some troubleshooting and re-pin a motor but the machine is AMAING! I have a couple Voxelab Aries by the same company and they are so reliable. I cannot imagine how incredible the AD5X must be. And that price point is within my range I will probably stop trying to mod every printer to be multi filament. BTW, the Creator Pro 2 can do TPU just fine. I rarely print anything that doesn't use TPU. The only reason I need a second filament is to add rigidity in certain places, but TPU is almost always used. There is rarely a time where the flex and indestructibility of TPU is not important, but often the need for a rigid frame or back plane to mount screws through.

This is a genuine question...why the excitement with the prusa core xy? They are just catching up with the industry, there is no innovation in that printer. I just wish they presented something with innovation as they used to instead of "wait a minute, let me catch my breath".
@thenextlayer
@thenextlayer Ай бұрын
There’s lots of innovation. Cutting out build volume in the chamber to reach 55C inside without a heater is innovative. The 70-80 degree overhang without an auxiliary fan is innovative. It isn’t revolutionary, but there are some cool innovations there. I’m excited about it because it will be a no frills machine that just works, but which can print exotic materials.
@oneletterlon
@oneletterlon Ай бұрын
I made a video on that question, you should check it out. But mainly it’s not a bambu clone, it’s going to revive prusa and get them out of obsolescence, and the overhangs and non pla prints will be better.

@logicalfundy
@logicalfundy Ай бұрын
Well, people have been asking Prusa to make a printer like this for a long time. Should have good dimensional accuracy, should have excellent overhang performance, should have excellent temperature control, uses a color system that has far less waste than the competition, should be a solid machine overall. Owners of Mk4S machines can rebuild them into a Core One with a conversion kit. Prusa machines tend to be more about attention to detail and appealing to makers.

Anycubic having proprietary firmware sounds like klipper but locked. With Bambulab they have elements that don't exist exist in klipper and can't due to the way klipper works, but are we supposed to believe Anycubic made an entire firmware when their other systems run on klipper and look the same? The AMS units with dryers seem great though if integrated and controllable through the interface rather than just with physical controls.

Just printed my first tpu 95 part and that tpu-cf sounds very appealing. Also the PPS-CF, already almost ordered some PETG-CF. Just got my P1S a week ago and need hardened nozzles still, not going to do the diamond nozzle just yet as not really needed. My waterjet uses ruby or diamond orifices, $40 vs $400 respectively, but the ruby may last well up to 8+hrs of cutting. More prone to random premature blowouts/chipping. The diamond last way way longer and have never had a blowout with one, the water stream just stays so much more focused for way longer. Maybe not 10x longer but not swapping them so often or causing an issue with scrapping a job is worth it.

I've owned many different printers on the market. Too many to mention. So far my Bambu Lab P1S is my go to printer if I want something printed in less time and with great quality and no fuss. I call it my replicator. We'll have to see how well these other printers will compare to it. And I've always wanted a print volume large enough to print things not so much in height but in length and width. I wonder if any printer company would consider that idea. Say 600mm x 600mm x 250mm? Just a thought as that size would cover all of my DIY needs.

Their proprietary firmware is an inscrutable black box, with the only accessible configuration setting I can tweak being the z-offset and THAT'S IT. I would not be surprised if their new printers use the same "not quite a volcano" style nozzle that has the same length barrel above the nut but shaves the top 1-2mm of threads and a tiny bit of the barrel off to make it proprietary and physically incompatible with true blue volcano nozzles.

Prusa is moving a little slowly, but I'm glad they're moving. They only compared their speed to their own printers, so I doubt it's competitive yet - but the Prusa fanboys will have a much easier time swallowing that purchase than they would have purchasing a MK4S. Nice to see the hobby-level stuff being moved mainstream a bit more. All of these guys need to start implementing user-protective sensor packages like Bambu does though.

Honestly the only thing I would want from Bambu lab is a bigger printer and a updated ams.

Can you update the discount code for fantik? It expired Dec 2nd and since the video came out Dec 5th it's no use to anyone...

"Without the need for a separate heater element" Is that a legit performance pro that I don't understand? Or is that marketing speak for cost cutting?
@thenextlayer
@thenextlayer Ай бұрын
They claim that an extra heater is one more part that can fail, and anyways it reaches 55C without needing one. Try to hit 55C on a Bambu printer. You won’t.

It means it's unnecessary. This is just one of those obvious things where the marketing department adds it to the list of features because they think it sounds impressive.

Nice to see Prusa competing with Bambu Lab on price with the core one. I think the A1 really threw them off with their bedslingers.
