THE ORIGINAL TUXEDO JAZZBAND - Recorded 1964 in Germany.
This is a fantastic film with this band, and an example of a perfect New Orleans Jazzband. All the musicians play and swing together wonderfully, and the ensemble sound of the three horns is magnificent.

These guys are long gone now but are among the "Foundation" people of New Orleans Jass along with Edward Ory, Humphrey Brothers, Marvin Kimball, and the others!! A Chapter closed and to be Revived!!

Still well alive , with the young New Orleans authentic playing of the Tuba Skinny band and who regularly have been travelling Europe and much further afield like their forebears Bechet ,Ellington,Goodman,Bob Wilber but have so far neglected visiting the U.K. because of Boris’ Brexit . Mildred Bailey died today !

I saw this band in 64 as a young boy. I must say they even make a bigg er impression on me today. And the original in 64 was hughe. Its awesome to see and esp. hear them again. Thankyou!

Funny to see that in 1964, Isidore Louis Barbarin was playing (very well) in a "Swing" way, and that in his latest European tours he came back to the drumming style of his youth, and a French critic said wrightly at this time that "he was the last remaining of the great N.O. drummers".
