Nice work. I tried fixing one by splicing the cables together. It worked but so much more time consuming. Once I found the replacement cables, I ordered a few of them. For the thumbstick replacements, no idea on the duke sticks, but for the S model, I've just ordered a few of the cheap hyperkin replacement controllers. They all have the same molding as the original.

Yeah I agree about the splicing... It takes a LOT of time to complete. I have another video on the channel about that too. New cables are the way to go even though I'm always slightly sad to discard the original green cords. Good tip for Duke sticks using the aftermarket controllers though! I just wish someone made new replacements, you just can't find them anywhere... I know you can use the same sticks as the S controllers but it just looks wrong when your done lol.

I've been using the retro fighter hunter controller as my childhood ones are unreliable due to the cable and thumbsticks. I looked in the past but couldn't find anyone selling just the cable. I've been getting back into xbox and set up insignia, which made me realize that while the hunter is great for singleplayer/local multiplayer, the lack of the expansion ports means no voice chat in online multiplayer. I'm gonna keep an eye on the cable and hope they restock soon so I can finally refurb my oem controllers.

The cables should be in stock again soon, I'm sure there are a few other sellers that offer the same cables as replacements too. You'd just have to do some digging to find them and match the photos with the items. But these new ones work and look great, pretty much a direct replacement.

Nice video! Like and subscribed. I'm new to this stuff. What tools and items are you using? And recommendations for the solder?
@gamejaeger5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the sub! Check out my how to solder video, I have many of the tools/ solder I use listed there. But I like to use 60/40 for most of my projects.

I know this is an older video but what brand or type of solder did you use and what de-solder ribbon did you use?
@gamejaeger3 ай бұрын
I’m not sure of the brand but I use rosin core solder. The desoldering ribbon I use I recently checked on Amazon for to see if I could pickup more since I’m starting to run low but found out it’s either discontinued or is now rare because the price skyrocketed. It was over $100 for a replacement coil which is insane. But I think in my how to solder videos I show the exact brands if you’re interested.

@@gamejaeger I did some research and I think I found some that will work, name brand and it’s recommended for circuit boards, 42 for a whole set up including adjustable solder gun

Both links are out of stock. I've found other replacement cables without the breakaway cable and the pin connector, but i would rather try to keep my controllers as close to original as possible, any advice?
@gamejaeger6 ай бұрын
Wow, I'm surprised they are sold out in both spots! I'm sure they will come back in stock soon but if you can't find any suitable replacements or don't want to wait, shoot me an email and I'll see what I can do to help.

@@gamejaeger I reached out and they said they are expecting a restock within one month. I appreciate the offer to help, I just started to get into soldering and I’m getting a station at the end of the week. I’ll use the month to practice so that when they are in stock I can install them properly. Thanks!

are the duke and S controller has the same cord assembly? Planning to repair my duke using the cord from S. Thanks in advance
@gamejaeger7 ай бұрын
Yes, they have different colors for the cords sometimes (black or green) but its the same wiring harness. Same hole pattern and same connection points, you should be all good to interchange them.

Do you happen to have any other links for this product or something similar? It doesn't even have to look like the original haha I just can't find anything resembling this cord to save my life
@gamejaeger5 ай бұрын
Sure, I'll do some checking and put any alternative links in the description for what I find (*Update* I found a few more listings on eBay). I know a few of the sources have had stocking issues with these so the alternatives might be a bit more money but at least they are available now. I have a few left in my stock too so if these other sources run out I can post some of mine as well.

Hi man, love your videos! I can't help but notice that you have blueish nails, I don't know if you have noticed it. I'm a med student and that could be a concerning sign. Take care!

Thank you, I appreciate the concern. I've never really noticed though. I'm guessing its probably because I do most of my work in my lower level and it tends to be a lot colder there so my hands get cold just sitting in one spot. I'll keep an eye on it though. Thank you!
