If you wick away the old solder on the pads, you won't have enough solder to use hot air for the RAM chip. Pre-tin with leaded solder, then maneuver the RAM chip as needed while you're applying hot air.

Emulated games and games for the arcade version of the Xbox retail games aren’t written to use the extra memory BUT the 720p patches do benefit and some even require the extra ram. But just playing your retail discs you won’t see any real benefit

you can find the ram on aliexpress just make sure you are getting the same type (chip part number is same or compatible). Some old video cards use this memory also

Only some software can use the extra ram but it is a requirement for HD patches and things like the Arcade version of the Xbox

You can get new old stock from China, you’ll have to search for the specific ram part number your console uses as it can vary. You can also sometimes find the memory on old 128mb video cards
