The symbol of the smoking snake is from WWII. Someone said the it would be easier to see a snake smoking than to see Brazil entering in WWII. When Brazilian soldiers were sent to fight in Italy, they decided to put that symbol in their uniforms and they said "A cobra está fumando": "the snake is smoking".

for those who dont care about history: In WW2, brazil once said they would never join the war and said "nem que a cobra fume" with means, not even if the snake smoke. But near the end of the war, the Axis shoot down our ships, so we said "a cobra vai fumar" or, the snake is going to smoke. And now, Brazil has joined the war, and Helped the USA, sending troops and vehicles to them. And as a brazilian... all can i say is: de nada

The uniforms of the Brazilian Army changed to another, more modern one and without these rank markings. They are now on the chest of the jacket. The camouflage remains the same. There are also the caatinga troops (a Brazilian biome more like a desert climate with little vegetation, drought), which has khaki and brown tones. The boots changed to green, brown and khaki depending on the type of troop. The standard armament that will replace the FN FAL will be the IMBEL IA-2 in 5.56mm and 7.62mm calibers.

The IMBEL IA2, in both 5.56 and 7.62, was adopted in 2012 to replace the locally produced FN-FAL versions (still ongoing). The IMBEL MD (96/97)carbines were never adopted for wide service in the army, only on some special groups and police forces. LMV's, local project Guarani APC's and CENTAURO II tank destroyers are all made by Italian IVECO, MBT's are german Leopard 1A5. Hello friend, my first time on your channel. I'm Brazilian, not military, but I'm enthusiastic about the topic. Your approach is really cool, the institutional video is very well designed, I already knew it, naturally. I'd just like to say that although courage and bravery in combat are essential virtues of any force, I believe that beyond that, in Brazil there is a human value of protection and support (for relief) that inspires us. Since rivalry and conflict aren't in our nature, we can collectively direct our energy toward a parallel principle. As the army motto suggests, "Strong arm, helping hand", certainly something to be proud of. In addition to honoring our history and our allies. PS.: I will pay more attention to your general content. Good job friend.

Former army officer here, did 4 years in an armored unit in Rio Grande do Sul. The main service rifle, at least here in the south, is still the old FN FAL, chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, but you can find 5.56mm IA2 rifles in some units, specially officers corps and the academy. Our uniform is patterned after the old BDU, and printed in an older pattern called Lizard or French Lizard pattern, but 2024 is a transition year to a more modern, ACU cut uniform and coyote boots. The sky blue beret shown in the video is assigned to troops in UN peacekeeping missions, while the royal blue beret with the snake badge is a limited use beret for WWII veterans, so it's not widely available. The standard issue berets are OD, black for armored troops and crimson for airborne, as well as a few other special issue colors. Ngl, I miss my army days, but there's just so much to improve. Brazil still uses a conscription based system, so every male citizen has to enlist the year they turn 18 for a compulsory one year service. Most units don't do much more than daily upkeep, and there are a few training exercises every year.
