Like the other guy said the rescue of Jessica Buchanan 60 minutes do that video. It’s her interview about what happened and they were kept outside under a couple trees. It shows the actual camp that was taken by the seals. Jessica by the way, went on to speak and raise money for the spouses and children of the seals that are lost for scholarships, etc. Pretty good person

The US sent a message when they sent the SEALS. They did try to negotiate but that broke down quickly. The Americans and captors kept them outside and took their shoes so they couldn't run. Dehydration, malnutrition, and living in a dirty desert would have caused her UTI. When they were rescued, the SEALS had nothing to hide nearby when they arrived, since they were rescusing outdoors. They did give Jessica and Paul triangle folded flags and welcomed them in the helicopter. SEALS had a doc with them and they were able to begin medical care in the helo. Today, Jessica is a teacher and she tells her story when able. She does this to thank her rescueres. She also wrote a book about her experience.

MY limited understanding is, aside from sounding cringe to say irl , wouldn't they not say that because technically SEAL Team 6 ISN'T called SEAL Team 6? Like their actual name is something else and that's just what "we" all call them. Or something like that, I can't remember the details, I just remember hearing that technically SEAL Team 6 doesn't exist, and I don't think its in a secret agent "this special unit doesn't officially exist on the records" type of thing, but like, legitimately.

It looks like one of the few attempts to bring attention to the previous conflict in the Darfur region of Sudan, which suffered a genocide in the first decade of the new millennium. They try to give a bit of motivation to the villain with his monologue, but I’m not sure how effective it is. Honestly, I really would like you to react to that movie. On Dec. 25, 2021, Cmdr. Richard Marcinko passed away peacefully at home. He was 81 years old. Marcinko had a storied career in the Navy. Most notably, he was the founder and godfather of the Navy’s most elite special operations unit, SEAL Team Six. He wrote six or eight books about some of their exploits. You can still find them and enjoy them. This original team called SEAL Team Six could never be duplicated in today's Navy. Dick Marcinko was a rouge that had special requirements and rules, you followed them, or you wouldn't be there on his team! They were killers and experts of the highest order!

interesting fact (i think, i am dumb sometimes) about Khat, is that im pretty sure its one of the main reasons the FN SCAR exists. when US forces were fighting their way out of Mogadishu in 1993, the local fighters were so amped up on the stuff that there were accounts of fighters not even being aware that they were getting mag dumped by 5.56 until a vital organ was hit, they just kept running and shooting. so US spec ops wanted a gun that they could use in a variety of situations like the CAR-15s they were running with, but had enough ass behind it that even Khat wouldnt keep them standing. FN said hold my schnapps and rolled that baddie out.

They were in the dessert under a tree it was very open terrain I’m sure there was probably some trucks and tents but not buildings it was open terrain for the most part and as far as how they advanced to the position it’s said they constantly changed which way they moved in depending on how the wind was blowing

A lot of the quotes are pretty close to what was said and you can hear it from Jessica’s mouth in her 60 Minutes interview of this rescue mission. I think the narrator just over dramatized without adding the necessary context when he made this video. The voices he makes while trying to quote sound really cheesy. There were no buildings, no rooms, no walls at the bandit camp. They were 100% outdoors, out in the open, and had been the whole time, except perhaps within a clump of trees when they camped. The SEALS approach was over open, flat ground, zero cover, and zero concealment aside from the darkness.

If America began paying kidnappers it would become open season on Americans. In the State of California prison system there is no such thing as a hostage. They will not let a prisoner go free just because they have a hostage. Everyone that enters a California prison must understand this. My dad retired from San Quentin State Prison. We were always afraid of bad news. At least when he was a military police officer for 22 years most of the people that he interacted with have never even been arrested. When my dad was working at The Big Q it was still a maximum security prison, with death row inmates waiting to be executed in the gas chamber. He had to interact with many men with absolutely nothing to loose or look forward to. He treated the men fairly, and when he retired a prisoner made him a card which all of the prisoners in his work area signed.

The thing with Seal Team 6 is that it is not uncommon for people to die trying to complete their training. If you are not on the same side as them, you're cooked. Not much you can put them through that they haven't already survived.

Part of the reason they split is to encircle the threat. Also there is a story where they said the pirates were feet away from them but could not see the SEaLS. It was a wonderful rescue. Next time though leave. Our operators should not be sent to fetch you when you should put your safety above needing to teach a class.

When she was taken it was for 93 days they spent that entire time in the desert never once were they in a building. This was part of the problem because the infection she had was due to not having clean water or toilet paper. There r other accounts in the form of a 60 min interview and various podcasts. As for the story u just heard yes it was a little cheesy.

Kinda IIRC it was originally a rescue of Americans from and advancing hostile force then became a escort leading a whole village of refugees to a safety. Not a job spec ops is particularly suited to. In a situation like that spec ops is really nothing more than well trained light infantry.

Her life was the mission. Same with the fire department here. Sometimes we have to risk our lives to save others. That's the job. Of course it is a bit different. We are facing fire, hazmat, or enclosed spaces and not bullets flying at us, but the mentality must be similar. The priority is their life, and while we do what we can to get them safely out, sometimes risk is necessary.
