CORRECTIONS 19:05, 45:50, and 55:35 - At these times I forgot to rotate the Mothership at the activated encounter site.

Thanks for the time and effort involved in making this. And it's good to see how easy it is to forget the rotation of the motherships as well as refilling the building market. Makes me be mindful to keep a particular eye out for this. So I like how these minor errors / forgets were kept in the video. Very clearly taught and explained. Much appreciated.

Great job once again, Jon! I was not caring much for the overall look of this game, nor the fact that there doesn't feel like there's much thematic differences for those mother ship colors. Having followed this play through, though, the mechanisms and game play seem right up my alley.

Gee thanks Jon. After watching this, I have preordered this game. Lol.

I appreciate your mistakes. Everyone has an off day and you don't typically have this many. So I appreciate you being human! : ) Thank you for the playthrough. Getting this to the table tonight because of this video.

Hey Jon, at 2:22, the orange 5 should be the 4th die in the offer, and the yellow 5 should be the 5th die there. Dice of the same value in the offer are sorted according to which building market color appears in the more expensive position. Since the orange building is further down, the orange die should appear first and cost 2 Wisdom while the yellow die should appear last and cost 3 Wisdom.
@GettingGames3 жыл бұрын
Huh, it looks like I parsed that part of the rules inverse to how I should have. I thought it was the more expensive one on the market was also more expensive on the citizen row, but that was opposite. I don't think I'll add a note though, since I didn't describe the setup procedure and I think a note would possible confuse more than clarify. Thanks for pointing this out though.

@1:24:10 - nice sleight of hand... :) - you made an example moving red's sea temple marker and then when you were done with the example you moved blue back to zero!

Ah, but this was fixed (just not noted in the Klingon subtitle).
@GettingGames3 жыл бұрын
Ah crap. I noticed the mistake and re-filmed my hand moving the correct ones down and meant to splice it together. Looks like I forgot to, but yeah after it is corrected.

Great walkthrough! I would love to pick this up but I'm our of room at the moment. I really like the way the dice become advisors and that tension between allowing that or getting them into a seat of power. Some similarities in one of my favs of all time Teotihuacan and that's a good thing.

That leveling up mechanic is so fun. I like that more games are using it

Wow well done! Just bought the game, and so glad this video is 100% helpful. My only issue is they printed way to few resource tokens. If you put 2 gold on the city cards each there is zero left for the rest of the game only the 5s

Thanks Jon, I’m looking forward to getting this game. Perhaps I’m misunderstanding the Archon placement rules or just was not observant enough but I think you missed mothership rotations at 19:05, 45:50, and 55:35. I saw Paul Grogan’s playthrough too and it looks like this is easy to do in the game, I’ll need to watch out for that when I play.
@GettingGames3 жыл бұрын
Good catches! When controlling it all myself it was very easy to miss these, in particular with the Archons for some reason. I've added corrections for each, thanks for pointing the issues out.

Are the encounter dials removable?
@romanchirowski12913 жыл бұрын
Yes, there is hole in board under dials and each game you random encounters colors :)
@GettingGames3 жыл бұрын
Crap, I did forget to mention that their positions are randomized at the start of every game.
@Sayuiv3 жыл бұрын
@@GettingGames you did! You said that the colored action tiles are placed randomly and than the mothership are placed to match them. Another great playthrough. Just received the game and so keen to play it!

Thank you for the playthrough Jon, this looks to be in a similar vein to Dominations: Road to Civilization (although maybe it is just the title to makes me feel that way). I know it's not exactly the same mechanics, but any thoughts on experience there. Is there room for both or one or the other...or am I pretty off base with that comparison?
@GettingGames3 жыл бұрын
I can see the comparison, though it's been a while since I played Dominations to remember it's specifics. I'll say that I worried about the AP potential of Dominations and I didn't have that concern with Origins.

Who came up with the idea of calling corrections subtitles "Klingon subtitles"? I thought it was a Rahdo thing, but I see other game reviewers doing it.
@GettingGames2 жыл бұрын
It was Rahdo's idea. Before this KZbin had a thing called "annotations" that let creators put boxes with text on the screen. This was what Rahdo and many of us used to put corrections in after uploading, but then KZbin killed the feature. Rahdo figured this subtitle trick out and many of us quickly followed his lead.

It seems so simple at the get go and then its just systems on systems on systems. Kind of want.
