In today's video I discuss the origins of London Bridge - one of London's most prolific historic sites.
We discover the first crossings over the river Thames during the Roman period, the birth of Londinium, and the incredible development during the Middle Ages.

Essex boy here living across the river in Suffolk. Grew up with that accent all my life (grandfather is from Norfolk). Now my son is developing that distinct east Anglian Burrr due to growing up in Ipswich! Great video as ever.

Haha I do love my accent but it does make some words almost impossible to say. "Human", "Music" and other similar words are very tricky!

This is a great video, and your singing was fine, too. I find it incredibly sad that the government sold the old bridge off. We ended up with something that no one would likely want to create a model of for future history enthusiasts.

Of course the more arches, the lesser the space for the water to travel through, this builds up a speedier flow of water and erosion occurs.

Haha! I'm actually from a little village called Poringland just south of Norwich, but I have spent lots of time in Yaaaaarmouth so maybe the accent has rubbed off on me...
