I hated it when the low rise pants came in style. So many butt cracks..... I used to poke holes in my belts to get them tighter to avoid showing my own butt crack. When high rise came back in style I stocked the hell up. xD

I hope this trend will be going through the next decade, they're very useful because they had deeper pockets and it slims your tummy giving you an hourglass shape. Also you don't have to pull up everytime you take a seat somewhere. Unlike lowrise jeans, ugh, tf.
@Christinar6266 жыл бұрын
Ellie SoFab they’re terrible if you actually have an hour glass shape though which I find funny. They also give everyone I’ve seen wearing them such a flat ass. 😂
@NA-oc7eq6 жыл бұрын
Well it depends tho, those with not too thick people i prefer them to wear skinnier mom jeans more than those slightly baggy mom jeans, that way it hugs them well and accentuates their silhouette. Only thick people can pull off those slightly baggy jeans because it has room for their ass.

From ages 12-23 I never wore anything other than skinny jeans (2006-2017). Just this year, I bought mom jeans for the first time. I have been BLESSED. They are worlds more comfy than any other jeans I’ve worn in my teenage/adult years. Thank the lord for whoever brought comfy jeans back into style. You are a saint.🙌🏻

I used to wear skinny jeans when I was little, but I realized they were too uncomfortable, so I switched to sweatpants. Then, I discovered mom jeans and they were so much more stylish and comfortable.

My mom told me when she was a little girl, one day she was out riding her bicycle wearing "pedal pushers" and a neighbor lady waved her over. This neighbor basically said "Only very badly brought up girls wear that sort of thing, dear, and don't you think you'd better go right home and put on a nice dress like the good girls wear?" Mamma's reply was "But I am being good, my daddy told me to wear these so i don't ruin my dresses for school"

I thought they were called "mom" jeans because they were high-waisted and baggy enough in the front to contain saggy post-maternity abdominal skin.

I'm so glad that "mom" jeans are in - they don't fall off your hips like low rise, but low rise is going to make a comeback eventually.

For millennials, I recognized the mom jeans resurgence came after the High Waisted Shorts/Daisy Dukes trends brought on by boho festival wear in the late 2000s-era/early 2010s. We were all looking at Goodwill and raiding our parent's closet for the perfect 80s/90s high-waist jeans to cut them shorter, but started realizing that once 90's grunge and normcore came back, we stopped cutting our jeans and wore them as is. Skinny jeans were passe and mom jeans were in.
@av7826 жыл бұрын
The creators of Normcore didn't intend for that to be a "thing" at all. It was essentially a glorified art project done by a bunch of flatmates following them finding out about "trend forcasts," only everyone took it seriously and they ended up banking on it quite well. There is a fab video on vogue about it with Alexa Chung. www.vogue.co.uk/video/the-future-of-fashion-with-alexa-chung-series-2-episode-2

I wanted a pair of Levi’s 501s, but the sizes in the UK only go up to a 32 waist for women and I’m usually a 36. So I got a pair of their mom jeans, they only cost £60 and I got them in a 32 waist and they fit like a dream. I was originally a convert to the skinny jean, and I still love my super high waisted skinny jeans but they usually aren’t made with the best quality of denim but I need the stretch for my hips. I’m wearing my mom jeans right now, and I think I’ve fallen in love. These jeans will last me so much longer than my other pairs ever will.
@lolam.92914 жыл бұрын
I’m rectangle in shape; basically, I don’t have a waist. Even before low rise jeans came out, I was wearing boy jeans to obtain the low rise look, and this was around the time when mom jeans became popular, and that was in the early 90’s... Now, high rise jeans are back in style, including mom jeans. I don’t necessarily like the look of mom jeans, but I look at myself today in high rise jeans and I guess I do not look half as bad as I thought I did back then when I wore them. At least I don’t have to worry about my butt crack showing with the high rise jeans 😜...

Whale tail and muffin top are two different things.
@banannakis6723 Жыл бұрын
The problem with low-rise jeans is that in many ways they don't fit a lot of body types. Or at least it led to a lot of whale tails and muffin tops, which weren't flattering. Also, the crime was that a lot of them had tiny little pockets. I have a high waist, so that trend always looked horrible on me because they would always fall down. People should be dressing for their body type and not a trend. I like high-waisted because it's comfortable, has better pockets, and is more flattering on me.

Oh Gosh I accidentally tried on some mom jeans in Zara because I thought the blue black wash was beautiful and on the hanger, it looked like my high waist straight crop jeans (a little bit like a Wedgie Straight).... Baby Boomers vs Millenials? Around 2:10? Doesn't she mean Gen Xers vs Millenials? Those of us who like high waisted peg leg jeans are Gen Xers. Baby Boomers were the people wearing the bell bottoms of the 60s and 70s. That's my only argument with the piece though. Good job otherwise. Like this kind of thing.

wow! i finally get it. so the millenials “irony” thing is “normcore.” or looking as boring and rehashed as possible isn’t due to a lack of creativity. it’s because it’s “frightening” to look normal! uhm...no not really it’s just...boring tasteless forgettable and totally unoriginal. ok, that explains a few things as to why i keep seeing such boring yawn worthy fashions on younger folks. i hope things get more interesting eventually.
