I don't think that problem is for the engineering, most likely the poor quality of the materials that Mattel uses, I haven't seen that in other brands... and thanks for cape's link !!

All of these toys are made in china and the cheap plastic is purchased from russia.they cost about $5 to make and matel/hasbro markup the price by 500% . I haven't had any of these problems with my figures. They stand up perfectly, and the plastic feels very sturdy. My only complaint with the female characters are their awful ugly knee joints, which are a real eyesore.

Since the arms are removable, would you think it is possible to slightly sand the shoulder socket to make the edges less sharp and not damage the arms when one move them?
@toypolloi3 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't need doing if these were made well and had some proper quality control. Modern toys are often very poorly made and this is a great example of that.
@loganjorgensen2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's funny the difference in the figures and the TV show like Teela never wearing that snake plate or Evil-Lyn not being yellow either. But then it becomes part of the history of both for better or worse. That's too bad about the soft arms and the sharp torso plastic, could be a batch matter varying between region & date since that happens. I don't think many kids will play with these but they really should hold up to posing multiple times better than that for sure. I do sort of wonder about the future of analog toys when the new focus is to sell mostly computer tablets and virtual swag.

Yikes, the torsos potentially damaging the arms if moved in a certain way is quite the design oversight. I know Mattel probably didn’t wanna make the arms potentially brittle, but making them soft plus designing the torso arm pegs like that doesn’t look like the best choice. Fortunately the rest of the figure looks like it holds up. Although I do agree they should give an extra accessory to the characters that had only one accessory in the vintage line. They gave the Origins Orko a small flight stand, they could do it to certain other figures too. I’m definitely gonna try out that custom cape you made once I get Evilynn. Nice job pointing out both the pros and cons overall. You don’t leave no much stones unturned in your reviews lately.

I got these 2 for my daughter this Christmas. Son got He-Man and Skeletor. Trying to pose hers the arms pop off very easily, then the angle to put them back on she needs help. 2 characters I think look better than the originals, but the durability is far under the originals. I am glad Beastman looks like Beastman, and Man at Arms looks great with the stache. He-Man and Skeletor need more vintage looking heads

I had a feeling from the outset, that this figure line was going to be much cheaper in quality, than the MOTU Classics, and the Filmation Ultimates lines. Those runs had their share of problems, and I recall having to 'fix' my Filmation Teela's head because her neck peg was sliced nearly in half out of the box . . . so I had to epoxy the peg in place, in order to be able to turn her head without completely beheading her. Super 7 and Mattel both have major QC issues. I wasn't even feeling the retro vibe, because I wanted Super 7 to continue the Ultimates line, and do what Mattel did by the end of the MOTUC line, which was turn out better figures with extras. Then they sold back to Mattel, Mattel goes back to the past, and finds a way to F@#! up the origin remakes WORSE than before. How does a leading toy company manage to DO THAT?!
@TimHayes3 жыл бұрын
Excellent review Dave! It's disappointing that Mattel's quality control isn't that great on this MOTU Origins figure line.

I wasn't liking Evil Lyn at all until you put that cape on her because the figure itself looks too cheap and featureless compared to the rest (even Teela has three accessories), but that cape makes her look really great and I agree it should be added as a standard feature.
@toypolloi3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. It would have been an easy and cheap addition for this figure. And takes it to another level. Maybe they will do a deluxe version. Or as I have shown, just make your own cape.

Shame they all come with the same comic. But it's obvious these are just fan service made..put them out for collectors because Mattel knows collectors aren't playing with these so they dumbed down the quality. If ever see any I will probably pick up he-man and skeletor but given that most of the walmarts in my area don't even get these in on a regular basis, definitely not holding my breath. I like the 2001-02 molds..evil Lyn looks fantastic in that line

Mattel is too profit hungry these days, just look at Thomas and tell me they only wanted to make it cheaper to make new one shot character designs for toys. Hasbro may make a dozen Transformers series at a time but they also make stuff strong. MLP as well has more sturdy plastic to them and they can be even more recolors than these two figures.

"They don't build them like they used to" is not a joke, if it ever was. But besides being fragile as they are -- and to be very clear, they shouldn't be --, I like the new face sculpts, and dislike much everything else. The poseability is good and appreciated, but those knee joints are awful looking. He-Man has his shoulders way too high and bulgy in the top part. And, seriously, _the same_ comic?? This is almost a knockoff level of quality.

Thanks for the video. I would probably just get one figure, just so I have one in its packaging. In terms of durability, your right the toys now are just not of the same quality. I wonder if its down to the type of plastic used. As in recycled plastic being used in making the figure. Just a thought. Obviously back in the day the effects of plastic waste was not as main stream as it is today.

It's VERY cheeky that Mattel have put a vintage style He-man spare head in with the deluxe Battle Armour version. So if you want the He-man figure to be more like the original, you have two pay around 40 quid to match all the right body parts together.
@Rocket13773 жыл бұрын
These figures are based primarily on their mnicomic designs, so the new head with the longer hair was meant to look like Alfredo Alcala's artwork. I do prefer the vintage head, so I'm just glad they are finding a way to get that to us.
