Many scientists used to believe in the 'Steady State' model of the universe, which held that the universe had been around forever. However, that was replaced with the Big Bang model because the Steady State model didn't actually fit the observations. The laws of thermodynamics are against an eternal universe. The 2nd law, in particular, says that the universe is running down, using up its energy. Given that there is still available energy, the universe has not fully run down. Therefore it has not been around forever. It has a beginning. "Why assume that a sentient, supernatural deity HAD to have created the universe?" Because nothing can create itself, and the physical universe had a beginning. So the cause of the physical universe-i.e. everything physical-had to be something non-physical, or supernatural.

Instead you should ask the right questions when approaching god. After all. If we are to come to him as lower beings we should humble ourselves to his soveirgn nature. Pertaining to politics, rather than Extreme Left, or Extreme Right ... the word Centrist implies middle of the road ... moderate ... as in "not going to extremes either way." In a country where people vote, the object is, the voters are either for or against certain issues, and for that reason, will vote for either one party, or the other. For instance ... those who believe that abortion offends the will of a god, will be voting for the party that promises to make abortion illegal. While those who want to give women the power to make their own decisions, will vote for the party that promises to keep abortion legal. When it pertains to the subject of abortion, there isn't any middle of the road. Gun control, or the lack thereof is another touchy subject, where voters either vote for one side, or the other side on that issue. I suggest that politicians in the Centrist party, by trying to follow the middle of the road, will ultimately leave the middle of the road; veer off either to the extreme left, or to the extreme right ... which has occurred to every group of politicians that tried to improve the old system for something new, and hopefully more agreeable to everyone.

I did not enjoy the episode of origins tv entitled "who made God " at all. because the episode has nothing to do with answering this question. This question is impossible to answer so why try. The only thing the episode did was say that' it's the wrong question to ask' and say that God is so beyond our understanding that he doesn't need to have been created. Essentially, you're saying or implying that God created himself. but you never come close to answering the question about how that could be possible. All you say is God is super natural so he's not limited to the natural laws of physics we know of-the ones which he himself created. I agree with most of this, but the speaker lowers his credibility by making multiple false statements about science. (1) The speaker said that atheists depend on the big bang. But for thousands of years, atheists insisted on an eternal universe. They accepted a beginning to the universe only when the evidence for this beginning became overwhelming in the mid 20th century. This is one of the cases where the Bible got it right first--the speaker's mistake gives atheists too much credit. Many atheists still desire to remove this beginning to the universe. (2) The speaker says that Jupiter is so big that its day is long. However, Jupiter rotates in less than 10 hours. (3) The speaker says that the moon moves away from the earth "a couple of inches per year." It actually moves at 1.5 inches (3.8 centimeters) per year. These are fairly minor mistakes, but the speaker should be more careful in his words.

Obviously, it is the former. This is the SAME and ONLY plausible explanation for the impersonation of "god(s), by non-Christian clergy responsible for “Sacred Texts” in the worship of the many other gods of which YOU, the reader, are an atheist. It’s the same trick and the same process in Christian and pagan situations. In both instances, the other religions' gods and spiritual beings also cannot speak, write, or appear. WHAT AN AMAZING COINCIDENCE. This was going so well until Jesus was equated as God. Jesus is not the creator, and he admits this. Collossians 1-15 is quite clear when it states he was the BEGINNING of creation. And - Who was he praying to? And why is does he say he is the son, in a father and son relationship? And please, no nonsense Trinitarian answers.

@Robert Davies, Gospel of John 1st chapter. Jesus never denied He is the Creator. He made himself equal to God the Father (philippians 2:6 and on...). Several occasions in the gospels demonstrate Jesus commanded the attributes of God (forgiveness, all-knowing, healing, etc...) To assert that Jesus himself admits his non-deity is a bad guess and demonstrates poor study . . .

It's not rocket science: Nothing could have come from nothing so there must have been something, nay someone - an eternal being who designed and created the universe (design can only come from a mind).
