Orion GS1000 old school golden era gem.

One of my local shops was a Orion dealer and would sell this amp for $849 so, only$50 below MSRP. My understanding is that the components were all hand tested and matched for tighter tolerances. All those that I saw back when they were new were personally engraved with the buyers name on each. They were top of the heap in desirability at that time. Great example you have there. Wow that thing is in beautiful condition!! Most of the GS / GSX models had customer's name engraved, very cool to see one with no engraving. Also most I've seen are flaking and flaking bad! In my experience the "upgraded and hand matched components" was a joke. These internals were the same as the lower models. Either way excellent specimen 🤙

Thanks, I never thought I'd get my hands on one. Got to see how to incorporate it in a build. I don't think it will be easy. It kind of sticks out like a.... gold amp.😂

@2001 Monolithic, I have the little brother to that one (half the size). No name on it either but gold plating is severely pitted. Still nice and shiny on the inside.

How do you post videos, under entertainment or electronics? It doesn't seem I get a lot of exposure.

I think mine are under electronics. I found you through big D wiz. I love your channel because you don't just test stuff but you explain how this stuff works. I've learned lots through your videos and you test amps under a live load. I'll definitely mention your channel in future videos because I think it's more informative than me showing product and reading off company specs. If your interested I would like to send you this GS amp for testing.

@@brentb5303 I am limited to testing amps 300 watts or below because the 13.8 volt power supply I bought was just 50 amps, which I thought would be sufficient for 400 watts or so.
