Have the black dial 65 for little over a year now, mine is running consistently +3 to +5 seconds a day, so no problems with accuracy with mine. Outstanding watch, maybe a little small for my 8" wrist, but it's do-able. Agree on the strap, one of the most comfortable I have ever worn, most comfortable rubber strap, period!

I’m glad you’re so enthusiastic about the Diver 65. One thing, yes the published specs are not impressive, however mine does perform far better. In the month I’ve owned mine I find it to be about +4 seconds per day.

Oris make some great watches at more affordable prices. One of the best entry level Swiss brands on the market. The design and colour of the dial are very nice on this piece and the strap makes this stand out even more.

Extraordinarily pretty dial, and the rubber strap works exceptionally well. It looks like a top tier chocolate - good enough to eat.

I have the all black dial version and really appreciate how faithful it was to the aesthetic of the original. In terms of accuracy, mine is running at -4 secs/day, which is not the end of the world. Great video editing skills Bruce.

Bruce, great job as always, the graphics at the beginning were really cool. I bought the same watch but with the nato style Blue-Black strap (I already had a Black Tropic). I've primarily worn it on a Clockwork Synergy Brown Suede and a retro Shark mesh strap though. I was surprised by the accuracy of the movement, I just expected maybe +/- 10 secs per day but it is actually running +1/2 secs on my timeagraphy machine, as good as my Speedmaster Racing and 1 sec better per day than my El Primero. If you buy Grey mkt it can be had for around $1150.
@arunpvmba4 жыл бұрын
I have the exact same model and it is absolutely gorgeous. I picked it in late 2018 from an AD for ~1100 USD and for that price it is a bargain. The bezel action on my watch is on point without any sort of a back play and i know it is an unregulated movement but I get a consistent +3 seconds per day which is very acceptable. The silicone strap is also very comfortable, the only grouse I have is that the strap could have had 2 loops instead of 1 thick one and if they could have made the strap quick release as it is such a strap monster. I also have a carbon fiber finish looking leather strap with quick release which I use to wear it as a dress watch.

Shaun Farrier I have a black dial 65 and its a great watch for casual and sporty situations. Mine is on the canvas strap which took about 5 minutes to break in. A year of use and not a single fray. Top quality all around. The AD I bought it from did me a solid and I bought it for just a bit more than grey market rates.

Mr. Williams: Thank you for the superb review of the Oris Diver 65. I do not know a lot about watches and your remarks at the end of the video suggesting that maybe the movement of the watch could be improved or worked on to make it more accurate caught my attention. Can you please post information on how that can be done, vendors, craftsmen, etc? I would really appreciate learning more about that. Thank you.

That's a beutiful watch. I dive for work and I'm very finicky when it comes to Bezel actions. One thing can say is the true test of a bezel come when the watch is under water at depth. I've had great Bezels that perform poorly under the water when I do dive stops. I've also had crappy ones that are perfect at depth so it's really a crap shoot.

I will continue to wear my watches however I like! If it bothers you, you know where the door is
@evvignes7 жыл бұрын
Bruce Williams, From what I've observed, you actually don't wear your watches too far up your hand. It's usually only when you're photographing them. For example, when you do a wrist shot of what you are currently wearing, it's usually not high on your hand. Enjoying the videos. Take care.

Its nice, but 3 considerations: bezel is cheap (for a $2000 watch) and it doesn't feel like a diver, its too thin. There are a few other value retro inspired divers out there to consider. Oris did get one thing right here, the size 40mm.

Nice watch, but really should be closer to $1200-1500 new. It's got a unique dial, is 40mm and has a domed crystal, HOWEVER I just don't feel the Oris name justifies this price. You can get a used Tudor Black Bay for between $2000-2500.

Ten years ago I bought a brand new Rolex Submariner from an authorised dealer for £2790. I know things change but I agree two grand is way too much for something with a cheap imitation of a generic movement...
@russmurray9575 жыл бұрын
Terrific and well executed review however your description of the tropic strap is a tad off. You say the strap has a "faux carbon-fiber texture". Considering the tropic strap was introduced in the mid-sixties, carbon-fiber was practically non existent. The texture was actually basket weave. Good for a laugh though ;)
@marcocastagnetti70866 жыл бұрын
It's frustrating, if consumers notice straight away faults of a watch don't the manufacturer's/ designer's know as well, Oris had a great opportunity to hit a home run but instead it's let down buy a bad bezel action and poor lume, I would gladly pay more for this watch if it didn't have these flaws, rather than Oris sticking to a certain price point.A wasted opertunerty.
