You know, I think you're right, this IS the ultimate Divers 65 (what with the whole caliber 400 and all). I'll be able to tell my grandchildren that I was actually THERE, at 2am, on the east coast of the USA, when the legendary Jody from JOMW unveiled his FINAL purchase of the Oris Divers 65. I still have my blue/black heritage dial that you started with, that dial simply can’t be out charmed by anything out there. I’ve also added a Cotton Candy full bronze 65, and I had to say as someone who loves the 65 just as much as you, the watch is perfection in 38mm. I have it on good authority that the heritage dial will be returning, and if it does so in 38mm with the cal 400, that will truly be the ultimate 65, and dare I say grail material. Congrats on the new pick up though mate!

I am the same. Have owned two version of the 65, and one of those twice! I also got rid of the 65s to fund a BB58. I like the look of this version, but have little use for a 12 hour bezel. I'm also hoping they up the lume power, but it seems it's not going to happen. Once they release a version with a regular dive time bezel or count down bezel, I will own a 65 yet again.

I'm glad you picked this one up, and look forward to the long term owners report. I am interested in this one, and tried it on wrist at the AD the other day. I was impressed! The 100m WR is still puzzling to me, but I guess there is a trade off for that lightness? What would it take to improve that, Oris? I love that it's got white lume, and the 12 hour bezel is a unique touch I could actually put to use with my work.

I have to admit that I haven't heard of the Caliber 400. So I'm Im not sure to what advantage it is to have one, over a Salita 200 or a Ronda 150. Other then a rather extended warranty. Which typically is just a piece of paper that state the reasons why they're not going to cover anything. There by lessening the chances of getting anything repaired at no cost. But it is a beautiful watch and I appreciate you sharing it with me/us. It's always good to hear you cheerful voice and witty commentary.
@AgeofEon2 жыл бұрын
I mean, an in house, 5 days of power reserve, 10yr service interval/warranty, 4hz movement that's pretty thin is pretty nice on paper. It's got it's quirks but it's pretty cool to have such a new in house movement in a wider range of watches. It gives my Cal 403 Pointer Date way more character than if it just had an SW200 in it or equivalent.

You would think they could supply a better box at that price point , I know it's just a box you place in a cupboard but I still expect a solid box. Love vintage watches so love the vibes on the Oris , I also own a Tudor BB ( thick heavy one ) in black with gold hands etc and just love looking at the dial such a vintage look that I love, I actually chose this over an Omega seamaster pro (I used to own a older model) but found the seamaster to blingy now.

I don't know what I find more entertaining, the fact that you need to justify your watch selections (to whom? On what criteria? Is it the collection as a whole?) Still have the 2018 blue/black 3/6/9/12 in my collection. It's survived longer than anything else by far. It is remarkable just how light these watches are. I wear all of my watches on straps, and even with that, the Oris is about 10g or so lighter than my Zodiacs, and 20g or so lighter than my Seiko MM200Rs. The 12-hour bezel gave me a thought - where's the GMT version? As far as I know, Oris has never done one with the D65. Seems like an obvious model to make, especially with the BB Pro being such a hit. Oris' model would be a caller rather than a traveler style, but they could also make their watch *dramatically* thinner than Tudor's using the Sellita SW330-2.

I have the Aquis with a Calibre 400 movement. You'll have to get to grips with the quirks of the watch to avoid frustration. For one, the rotor only winds in one direction. That means you'll never get it up to 5 days power reserve just from wearing. Apparently it takes around 200 winds of the crown to fully power. To be fair, this still only takes thirty seconds to a minute when you know you're putting it away for the weekend or so. The other one is the minute hand jump when manipulating the crown. Watch some KZbin vids to get the reason and easy mitigation. Aside from the silly personality traits it is an incredibly reliable and stable movement. Mine is from when they were first released and has been purring along wonderfully ever since.
