I agree! I started midway through 9th edition and my strategy was just to get many of the different value boxes before topping off my purchases with what were safe bets for any lists on the second hand market (Nobz/Trukks/Stormboyz/Gretchin). This guide however is phenomenal and I think the reviews reflect how to build in the long term with either starting point! Best Ork channel hands down. WAAAAGH!!!

Short answer, it's great. Snaggas are great and the character actually attaches to the squad that comes in the box.

If I was starting out, this would be a done deal with the beastboss on foot being a big incentive. However, I'm very disappointed with this release being the new combat patrol since Beast Snaggas have been oversaturated in value sets: - When they came out there was the beast snagga box. - Then came the boarding patrol with 10 of them in it. - Then the beast snagga stampede during christmas. They're fine units but it's only really 1/4 of what the faction has to offer and most lists will never run more than 20 BSBs since there's room for more interesting units and most people already have plenty of Hogs

Great point of view ,I agree we've had snaggas pushed so much that it's the only thing some newer players own .Orks are already hard to collect . WAAAGH

Few minor reasons but do what you want 1] another step of dice ruling/rules to remember 2] unreliable for damage 3] snagga value comes from the choppa and melee But small games the thump can feel OK

It definitely has better synergy than the old box but has a Dreadmob guy i won't be picking it up.

Da Big Hunt: Heroic Intervention says, “… resolve that charge as if it were your charge phase.” Would that wording allow you to also use the Unstoppable Momentum strat?

No because it specific stats 'the charge phase ' to use the strats. You get lance from the datasheet and such though. You simply don't fight first ! WAAAAAAGGHHHH

even though the squig hog boyz are technically free in the box, its the reason i won't be buying this box. i have a heap of boxs to paint and two of them boxs are squig hog boyz.

This is something I've heard from a few people. Most people keep getting snaggas because they've been pushed in most of the boxeset the last couple years, therefore people already have a good amount of these units ! WAAAGH

Welp, what is overlooked the most is this is a combat patrol not a start collecting box. People put too much thought into something that wasn’t even intended

I'm willing to bet that 9 of 10 combat patrol boxes are bought because they are value boxes, not with the intention of playing the combat patrol format with it.

@@Curufinwexand im willing to bet that savings sits on a shelf unused. Like the copters or dread or the sisters in the custodes or the ship thing in the necrons or the blah in the blah box. Combat patrols are a game system.

This is a good point too . Yet I think most people understand it would be more useful and appealing if it was a start box set . Yet a combat patrol game to " get started " is real and I've met people who did that
